Handyman says there is wax on the walls when the T skipped out. Probably burning candles and incense to Satan. Any suggestions for removing it? He suggested Goofoff, but said it would also take off the paint.

Scrape off as much wax as you can without injuring the paint. Then get ultra absorbent paper towels, place over wax and use a hot regular iron to melt the wax into the paper towel. Repeat as many times with fresh towels as necessary to get all the wax off. Works on carpet and clothing too. Just be sure the towels are layered thickly. Colored wax may leave a stain no matter what. I've also used artist's erasers (soft) to remove wax. --174.65.xxx.xx

Similar to Sorta Blonde, I've used paper sacks instead of paper towels, but ironing is the way to go. Still might have a shiny spot when light hits it the right way though.

Warm or hot damp rag. It will come off. If it's red or a dark color wax the dye may remain. --172.56.xx.xx

Repeated coats of Kilz or Bins to cover it after you remove the wax. I tell them they can only burn candles in the fire place. And no fires allowed. --108.24.xx.xx

I was able to get a 10 year old blob of red wax off carpet with an iron and white towels...I used alcohol and I forget what to get out the color after the wax was gone, maybe bleach. --50.82.xxx.xxx

Scrape first big stuff with paint scraper, then iron like people say. If painting over, use a SHELLAC based primer...the water based ones don't work for things like wax, crayon, sap, etc. in my experience. Water based primers are only good for very mild stain coverage...so I almost always use SHELLAC based now. --99.92.xxx.xxx
