Have only used gas in the past.

Any pros or cons for using electric coin-op dryer in laundry room as compared to gas??

Also if you know, are the various dimensions of the electric dryer any different when compared to gas dryer??

An electric dryer will cost you around twice the price to dry a load then a gas dryer. Depending if you using Natural Gas or Propane -- I'm assuming the use of Natural Gas supplied by a large utility company.

And the life span of both dryers is about the same, 10 to 14 years. --47.155.xx.xxx

There two types of natural gas coin dryers which are the smaller type which is close to domestic size and the heavy commercial laundromat gas coin dryer where in 20 to 30 minutes everything is completely dry except blue jeans. A commercial laundromat has larger air flow along with higher BTU. If could buy used commercial laundromat coin dryer then can expect long life as everything is industrial. Still smaller coin gas dryers dry in 45 minutes instead of hour where heat is right away. Venting is really critical with gas dryer where metal straight pipe with few bends. Here a gas coin dryer costs about a 1/3 to operate as electricity rates are really high. --68.69.xxx.xxx

One of the reasons that I chose electric over natural gas was that at my multis I already have a house meter for the electricity. If I were to use natural gas dryers, I would have to open an account with my local gas provider & have a house meter just for running the dryers. In my case even though the cost per load to dry using gas is less than using electricity, due to the minimum charges & related fees it doesn't make sense to use it just for dryers. Also, it's pretty simple to swap out an electric dryer compared to a gas dryer. --72.93.xxx.xx
