Los Angeles apartment maintenance workers found dead after exposure to fentanyl in complex

The unit was abandoned and the pair were performing maintenance work inside. When the manager walked in, the two men were found unresponsive, the LAPD said.

A white substance was found in the vicinity of the room and tested positive for fentanyl, the LAPD said. No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 80-100 times stronger than morphine and is often added to heroin to increase its potency, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Be careful out there! Just had some Ts skip out and I remembered seeing acetone, labware and lots of cannabis by the stove. After some research, realized they were distilling THC extract with acetone - a highly flammable liquid by the stove. Which explains why they were always removing the smoke detectors . . .

Probably 5-6 years ago a local police officer warned as about going into units to do turnovers and be aware of powders for that reason. My one sheriff lockout where we moved everything to a storage unit had the police there a few times due to guns, drugs. They were air soft guns with the orange removed and when I stopped by to ask them about the drugs chopped up with straws and there had been a powder. He started saying I needed a professional hazmat team. Then I realized there was no chance of fentanyl because we had already disassembled the bed that had powder on the rails. We would have already been dead or rough shape if that had been fentanyl. Luckily it was probably diatomaceous earth. The drugs turned out to be anxiety meds he was snorting. It's a jungle out there .... 2 flips ago I used a reference from my main contractor (too far away for him to want it). Cut the guy a 5 figure check .... he went on a binge. Hit into a "bad batch of heroin" laced with fentanyl. Went into a coma and died a week later. Went to the funeral to recoop the $$ .... "all I did was cash the check and give it to him" said the girl friend.
