We presented one of those goofy checks to a local town park/playground fundraiser yesterday. We ran a little Facebook contest and created some great ideas for one of our buildings. In turn for everyone's great ideas, we paid in forward.

The town board was thrilled that some greedy old landlord (or anyone for that matter) wanted to help. After meeting with them, they were surprised to hear that we understand that when their town flourishes, so does our business and everyone else. We shared ideas, visions, and thoughts on new projects and improvements.

Too much jealousy in the world. My grandfather always said "your neighbors don't want to see you succeed" Again, just a different mindset of some comminutes.

Just help one another when and how you can.

Plus, Pookie and I were in a great mood the rest of the day knowing the town park/playground is going to be amazing.

Swings? If there are swings I'm in. Our town just did a little park and I went to the opening ceremony, it was awesome to see all the business people, chamber, mayor, and people, no mask, good spirits, good community, it's happening else where too... Good way to be a part of something bigger! --172.58.xxx.xxx

I ran into that a few years back on a couple of issues.

First – my little, small town was going to spruce up the city hall. I offered to donate the paint and a couple of days helping paint the building. No way they said. OK by me.

Later - I offered them the use of 5 acres for a walking park. No strings attached except they would have to keep it looking nice. Again, no way.

Later they needed to use a heavy-duty air tool (ground, gravel compactor) I owned.

NOOOOO WAY I SAID.

Our City needed more shelters. So a Hollywood Producer's wife found a building and purchased it. Her idea was making it into a Battered Women's Shelter. She summitted plans and waited for approval. She didn't know she had to grease the palms of the politicians. The City wanted to make money at every step. The producers wife found that odd. But the City inspector told her the building wasn't bolted to the foundation and it can not be approved for "housing" people. FAIL! The City sent her one of their contractors who wanted $50,000 to retrofit the foundation. I volunteered to do the retrofit for nothing! So long as it became a shelter. I got the job and completed the work in 4 days. The City blew their tops and said, "The work I did doesn't conform to the trade and failed". What the producers wife and the City didn't know is I had already pulled the permits and had it inspected by both Building and Safety. Got the permits signed off passing every step. I then gave the producers wife her copy of the permits and said, "All done and ready for use". --47.155.xx.xxx

No one considers politicians to be greedy where here they paying income tax on 75 per cent of income along getting a expense account tax free and some get a housing allowance. After 4.5 years they get lifetime generous pension. Most of the nutcases do not realize that large operating costs that it takes to properly run a rental complex in good condition. They keep talking about Socialist ideals which never worked anywhere in the world. In Russia some apartments are really low cost which are way below the standards of North America. Suppose you turned over a rental complex to the nutcases within six months or less it would be bankrupt. It is like a Cinderella story. --68.69.xxx.xxx

Most of the critics are complete failures in life where they fail to understand how a economy works. Rental housing providers buy goods and services locally not the third world where trades people get good wages not third world. I remember the time the Socialist Democratic provincial was elected for one term in the province of Ontario where they said they were bankrupt private sector rental housing providers where they brought in penalties for repairs and renovations. Suppose a building installed high efficiency gas boilers then operating costs were reduced then tenants could apply for rent reduction under rent control. One cold November all the work was stopped where existing gas boilers were repaired not replaced then the workers who were tenants went home where one said what the () good is rent control if you do not have a job. You can be sure they voted for the progressive Conservatives next election. --68.69.xxx.xxx
