Tenant's removed the kickplate grill that goes across the front of the refrigerator, they have it, but keep it in the other room. Could they cause damage to the refrigerator by not having it on ? there are no pets or small children in the home. Any experience or thoughts? --172.58.xx.xx |

The only reason I can think of for someone to do that is that they already hit it hard with something and broke the clips that hold it in place.
Otherwise, why on earth would anybody take it off?

It probably keeps falling off for the reasons DJ mentioned, or they haven't figured out how to put it back on correctly and can't get it to stay on.
I would ask them why.
You will possibly get more dust accumulation in there as well and they may end up kicking something that causes damage. I would want it on there. --73.120.xx.xxx |

Yes SmallP been considering just that. These residents just started to become entitled. May let sleeping dogs lie. However I did ask where it was and he said in the laundry room. I did offer if he would get it to reinstall while there but he said it's something his wife deals with and she's not there. So I let it go at that time. --172.58.xxx.xx |

Need to get that kickplate back on! Last week we had an electrical fire(?) shorted all the electrical on the outlet. Kickplate missing and found something under the fridge that was burned. Electrician said it had to do with the item and wires. Replaced GFCI's and item. Kept it for proof. Looking for the kickplate now. You don't want the fridge to short out.
Similar thing happened at my mom's. Something rolled under her electric recliner chair and shorted the chair out. Moving the chair, the item that rolled under the chair interferred with the wires. Once it was removed and the electrical outlet replaced, it worked fine. --75.11.xx.xx |

Kickplate helps limit dust and especially pet hair which I believe may impact function and or longevity. I would have to look it up but I thought I came across information of build up on coils/motor being an issue when I was troubleshooting an issue a month ago. --75.67.xxx.xxx |
