So the economy has bounced back from the COVID shut downs rather well but we are finding ourselves with more cash than things to buy -thus we have inflation in addition to some supply line bottlenecks.

I suppose it could be worse.

Ohhhh wait though there just might be more

What will happen if Russia does invade the Ukraine? How will that impact the US and world economies? What are your thoughts? I see where this could trigger all out Stagflation coupled with the Feds planned raising of rates.

I would like to hear other peoples thoughts

Ray,

If Ukraine was a member of NATO, Russia invading would be a big deal. However, Ukraine is not a member so Russia will get hit with harsh economic sanctions which should not affect the rest of the world. Besides, Putin is just bluffing since all he really wants is some respect from other world leaders. --71.207.xxx.x

Putin is one of the wealthiest people in the world, however, on the world stage of world leaders with real power and influence, Putin gets treated like a 'red headed step child'. Putin is trying to change that by flexing his muscles on the Ukrainian border. --71.207.xxx.x

Russia is the number two oil producer on the planet. They are the number provider of natural gas to Europe through pipelines located in Ukraine

Can this turn out like the 1973 energy shock on the US and world economy? --24.101.xxx.xxx

Biden commented today about Russia making only a slight incursion. Sorry, any incursion is a big deal. Yeah probably about the oil so his son will be getting more cash probably if Biden does nothing. --108.24.xx.xx

Until 1954, Ukraine was a part of Russia. My Russian instructor in college was from Kiev, and very much considered herself Russian. We are the ones out of line and a war would be disaster with our woke military. But, then we need a diversion from the reality of a president who wears diapers. --216.23.xxx.xx

Please know that when you are seeing, hearing, or reading information from ANY news organization, think tank, agency, gubermint employee, etc. you are not dealing with the transmission of information. The emanation from the “source” is designed to manipulate responses from the public.

Don’t fall for it.

Who cares? It’s all a manipulation.

Every single word and every single message is designed to either manipulate the evil moderate or to demoralize the opponent.

Putin wants to live in the past of the former Soviet Union where if there was referendum doubt the majority would want to become part of Soviet Union. Putin must realize the reason why a lot of European joined NATO as they did want to bullied by Putin. One can not turn back history where the Soviet Union no longer exists. --68.69.xxx.xxx

I worry more about North Koerea observing that Americans have gotten so soft and lazy that an invasion would be a piece of cake. If they march on the west coast they will be met with all of those signs from front yards that read "We don't care who you are or where you come from, you are welcome here" --76.178.xxx.xxx

Heck Oregon they would be offered Section 8, food stamps, and free health care. They could do what Japan did in WWII and release 50,000 weather balloons over the Pacific with little bombs attached.

Putin shows no sign of wanting to resurrect a Soviet past. He was as active as anyone in dismantling the Soviet structure. He wants to resurrect the RUSSIAN past. His support of the Russian Orthodox church is the exact opposite of the CCCR. NATO is surrounding Russia and trying to dominate the Black Sea and even the sea of Azov. The result is likely to end no better than the Afghanistan War ended for NATO.

I also wonder at the sanity of ramping up bad feelings in the middle of winter by threatening the country that provides NATO countries with their winter heating gas. --216.23.xxx.xx

Another cold war. If you have been watching how well Russia has been following the nuclear weapons treaties you know that for the last 10-15 years they have been ignoring them. Add to that China's aggression, and a few others like North Korea, Iran, and Pakistan things are ratcheting up a lot. How will that affect us? Hinders global trade, things like oil, natural resources, and finished goods get shut down and used as a weapon against other countries. What do we get from these countries... much of our drugs, all of our rare earth metals used in batteries, oil and gas, and pretty much everything we consume in business and home. You think the shelves are bare now, just wait. You think the cost of a 2x4 was crazy in 2021 just wait. Yep, if that happens stagflation and worse. Hopefully, not the next world war which in my opinion would end with total world destruction. The only thing that would prevent this is the business pressures that get put on various world leaders to put them back in check. A cold war hurts every country. So, who knows how far it will go. --209.16.xx.xxx
