Hello everyone,
I paid a handyman over 3k in 2021. I only have one rental. What do I need to do to comply with the IRS? Thanks --99.102.xx.xxx |

Do you want his payment officially off of your books. Issue a 1099. --24.152.xxx.xx |

You must issue a 1099-NEC (Non-employee Compensation) UNLESS he is a true "company" and not a sole proprietor or LLC.
And you better do it soon. The fines are huge this year and the dates are like right now as to when you have to issue them. --50.82.xxx.xxx |

Next time you hire a contractor get them to fill out a W9 before they receive there check. Now you don't have to chase them!
Anyone who is paid $600 or more is given a 1099. --24.45.xxx.xxx |

This is really an easy process. Your local office supply store has the forms . The instructions to manually enter the information is easy enough if you only have a few or you don’t have a software program to import the information from. If you don’t have the SS#, send it without one. It’s better than not sending it at all. The IRS will send you a letter telling you that you forgot it and do better next time. --68.191.xx.xx |
