New train robberies?

Still waiting for your packages? Could be that it has been robbed from the train that was transporting it.

Have you seen the news coverage of thousands upon thousands of packages and those Amazon envelopes lining 50 feet or more wide and extending for miles and miles along train tracks? Apparently, big teams of robbers are taking bolt cutters and cutting off the locks on boxcars filled with packages. They then have apparently enough time to rip open all those packages and take the goods and leave those many thousands of cardboard boxes strewn all about.

Apparently even if they're caught which is not all too common, they are charged with a misdemeanor and given a small fine and these robbers actually laugh at the punishment and go back to doing it again and again.

I can't believe this is such a problem, a few armed guards perhaps, which would send a quick message that they ought not to try this.

I just saw a video on the news of the train pushing its way through a bunch of the packages that were left on the track. Some of those puffy Amazon bubble packs were not even opened.

How interesting. I suppose they do slow down and sit idle on the tracks at times. --172.58.xx.xxx

The rail yard should have a high fence along with security system to prevent people from entering private property. Here many of rail roads have there own police force. What happens when train slows then theft begins. With the problems in the trucking industry where here the government will no longer allow un vaccinated truck drivers to enter the country where later in January the Us government is going to require truck drivers to be vaccinated as well. Many Canadian drivers will be allowed to return where can travel between provinces but isolate for two weeks. Us drivers un vaccinated will not be allowed to cross the border at all where this is going to create inflation along with shortage at the super markets. Governments need focus on more rail transport of goods where some countries in Europe most of the freight is done by rail. Most of rail lines in Europe are electrified where electric locomotives are more powerful then accelerate faster. One electric locomotive can pull a lot freight cars. Maybe if the trains could accelerate faster the thieves would not be able to get on freight cars. --99.236.xxx.xxx

Yes they do stop for a while on the tracks Many years ago some of my sketchy schoolmates used to try to steal things off new cars as they sat for a long time in Niverville in upstate NY.To my knowledge they never got caught,

Just over the border in Oklahoma the Sheriff found a ditch full of Amazon packages. Seems Amazon contracted with 3 knuckleheads who were to deliver packages, they just opened them and dumped the trash up the road in a ditch. Wonder how long Amazon would have taken to figure it out if the Sheriff hadn't figured it out. --209.16.xx.xxx

Train cars come through here with graffiti on them all the way up the sides. Takes a long time to do that. Easily more than the time it takes to remove a lock and empty the car. Need better locks and alarms that are loud and no one could stand there and listen to it. Maybe some flashing lights too. --108.24.xx.xx

I leave my trash can out 2 days after pick-up and code enforcement is on me like white on rice.

Fine the RR for not cleaning it up. Once it cost them money they'll do something about it.

JOKES on the robbers though: all that junk is "Made in China" and won't last. At least the crooks on the east coast rob the coach and lou Vitton stores! --99.103.xxx.xxx
