I have seen that some version of Allure is either being discontinued or difficult to obtain.

There are of course other options offered by Home Depot as well as other suppliers.

What are people that have been using Allure using now instead?

And is your choice also a glue strip type plank like Allure or have you gone to a click together type?

You can still get them. I ordered 4 pallets grey ones and just found out that it is different from the oak type that I used for many years.. The plank came apart at the glue strip area all over the place.. Very frustrating..

I use click type planks now. Just moved up from sheet vinyl.

What is the advantage of using glue down instead? --107.147.xx.xxx

Glue down is easier to install. But come back a year later, you will see seam separations. Just a little mad....

Just go to your local flooring provider and get some vinyl click flooring. Some have it were you lock in the long side and just tap down the butt end joints. So easy, a 5th grader could do it. --76.77.xxx.xxx

The click versions are what I use. Did the entire first floor of my place in different styles. Have started using cheaper stuff in rentals, hoping that they will last longer than sheet vinyl, self stick squares (yuck) and in some places carpet.

Not sure about the lifespan with kitchen chairs and such. If you get a bad spot in the middle of the floor you are screwed in my experience.

The glue down doesn't seem to have the nice look after time from shrinkage maybe.

Have one place I put some cheap lowes stuff down over a year ago. Small dogs, lots of kids, kitchen furniture. Shows some scratches but not horrible. Too early to tell if it's worth the extra $$ over squares, but shows better to begin with. --107.147.xx.xxx

We've had issues with Allure Glue-Strip separating at a few places. Never sure why - did we install incorrectly or did something happen to floor or what? But we have it installed successfully at many many other places.

One place we just could not figure out the why or where of it - it was in an odd place - when later someone told us that the former tenant of that place had a little dog that peed all the time...yep, that will break a glue seam if it happens often enough in the same place and allowed to sit! Hate little dogs.

But he just installed our standard Khaki Oak (greige) Allure Glue Strip at a new place and we had no trouble getting it. 19 boxes in stock at our local store, had to order 5 more to be delivered store2store. So far we have not had issues with getting it knock wood. --50.82.xxx.xxx

So do those of you that prefer the glue down over snap lock have a reason?

Can you pull one tile from the middle of the floor and replace it with no issues? I have two rehabs going and a full re-work at a new house coming up. Would love to get some insight as to vinyl flooring.

Considering putting ceramic down in the bathroom of the next rehab. Costs more up front but I still don't know about the longevity of the vinyl planks. --107.147.xx.xxx

Elliot buddy - good hearing from you. It has been a while.

I got two pallets of the Khaki Oak allure as a special order in about three weeks ago. If you order it in bulk, they can discount the price so it is wise to make a large order like that. It really isn't that much flooring.

I prefer the glue down over the click as it is faster for my help to install. It isn't hard to install, I know time is money --24.101.xxx.xxx
