So I wonder if there's any justice? I have three tenants that have taken advantage of the COVIT no pay, no eviction. It's been extended as the courts not taking any cases. So all these three tenants are also my worst pita people which I would be very glad to get rid of. They all want to stay, so they have appealed to RAFT which has their rents for over a year.

Now, all these tenants have jobs that are more than adequate to pay their rent. So how does RAFT end up paying over $20,000 each for these people? Yeah, I should be glad that I'm getting my money finally. But who really is paying for the over $60,000? Of course the taxpayer really does, which I'm one and so are you!

These people are getting away with murder. I have written to RAFT about this three times with no response. It seems like they would rather not get involved with dealing with fraud. My understanding is the tenants had to state that they didn't have the money to pay their back rent.. I know from talking to people who know them and their neighbors that they have purchased many expensive things with their extra savings from not paying rent.

Have you ever run into this? Is there anybody that one should alert to? We are in the process of evicting these RAFT rats as again they have been very troublesome besides. But I don't think society should be paying for their back rent. --66.30.xx.xxx

I have been wondering about this myself. Have also posted about it. Response was----why worry as long as I got paid.

Anyway. I asked one of the recipients of this FREE MOLA and she said that they did not ask for any sort of proof of anything---income, proof of not being able to pay etc. Sad in my opinion. Tax payers getting ------ ed again. --24.233.xxx.xx

Not even the people from Unsolved Mysteries had an answer for that, this is so sad :( . But you know, sometimes the government let you think that you got away with murder or that you committed the perfect crime, but eventually they will pull the rope and people will have to pay for every penny. --98.216.xx.xxx

Here the federal government when they fill a tax return they are taking back the money where they did not qualify. So what what happens at return time if the government in the Us maybe the same. Like everywhere the Canada Revenue Agency has the ability to go after those people. More then likely a lot people are going to be in for shock as they cheated the system where last year a lot of them had to pay back so this year there is unlikely to be any change. If they work some place they can not hide income. Only a small percentage needed some help for a short period of time say a few months. Now many places are looking for workers as the generous UI benefits is discouraging people from seeking employment. This free for all needs to come to end as this is causing major problems for the economy. People employed pay provincial and federal income tax. --99.236.xxx.xxx

No, there is no justice now and more than likely never will be.

I was discussing this issue with one of our social workers and her response was, "It is because of the low life people we serve that I and other social workers have jobs." "We don't want to know if they break the Lease or buy extra items with their pay checks, etc. because if we turn them in, our jobs are no longer needed."

It is this attitude that LL's come up against, often.

Our governments systems are so messed up that things will not change for the better. It is certainly a sad state of affairs, in a LL's view, but others look at it a lot different. It is called job security to ignore the obvious. --67.22.x.x

Every time we bump into these problems on this forum, everybody’s like NE, be specific! I can’t. I don’t know you, your building, or your tenants. Some things in this business can’t be posted on a public forum. Use your brain & figure it out. take control of your unit and your business. Hi Ken.

Well, In two cases I turned down their water heaters to warm,(the tenants didn't see me going into the basement) they didn't call me. They called the code enforcer and the Board of Health that said they were going to set a daily heavy fine if not fixed right away.

You really can't say "I ainta gonna pay!" as they hold all the cards,.

I don't see any options to force them out without getting into a lot of trouble. --66.30.xx.xxx

Plenty

I get that, it might work in other areas, but here the code people and the board of health will say must have a service person testify that it can't be rectified. If it can, then fix it so the "poor tent/s " don't have to move, Things like no hot water, low water pressure,no heat etc. are all fixable. So it doesn't work here,

Also, there are ten other units in this building, hard to tell code/BOH people that you can't fix one.

I have 23 properties, some I have had for nearly 30 years, so I'm used to problem-solving. These are not easy under current conditions --66.30.xx.xxx
