The summer before covid arrived I had something similar. A guy at the hardware store had it too. He went to the hospital and I did not. Had a bad dry cough constantly, it went to my lungs. I saw two Ear, Nose Throat guys. Could not hear or smell much of anything. Got an MRI of head. Eventually it went away but Ear, Nose Throat guy No. Two said I had a virus and a summer allergy. Had crackling in my lungs. I now believe I had RSV, Respiratory Synscitial Virus, . Kids get it and it can kill a baby. It is going around and I have seen lots of small articles about it. The covid tests are notoriously inaccurate except for the one that takes two days to get results. Even the creator of the test said not to use it.
