It worked! : )
I hadn't done it before, but it seemed logical.
Even though it has been quite cool outside, I have successfully grown grass in the yard of my current reno - around the newly defined driveway & walkway. (photos on my picture page)
How I did it was by creating a sort of temporary "greenhouse" using thin, clear plastic sheeting to magnify the sunshine & keep seeds warm below.
I doubt this would work in MN this time of year, but if you need grass to grow just a little beyond the normal sowing season - give it a try. I'm sure it would work to warm up the ground in the spring, too.

It also keeps the moisture in, so no need to water again. Just one initial soaking before covering with plastic.
One more tip: Elevate the plastic off the ground a bit, so the grass has room to grow under it. --68.229.xxx.xxx |
