Tenant of many years left for work today. Handyman who has already been to the house and seen the work that needs to be done had set up an appointment.
He arrives and son does not let him inside to work.
Tenant tells me that she has a lot to do and his father just died so he went back to sleep and did not answer the door.

Simple and easy. Reschedule and tell her that the handyman will be coming in to do the work at such and such a time. If refused again, she will be charged a service call fee. Then it will be rescheduled the third time. If refused the third time a notice to vacate will be issued. The tenants son can catch up on his sleep somewhere else. --24.152.xxx.xx |

I know this type of situation is frustrating.
I feel for the sons father passing as it must be a sad time.
I have given my condolences to tenants and have asked for the deceased persons name so a card with a monetary donation may be sent.
One time it took the tenant 3 hours to answer and when she did she told me the name was none of my business, which made me believe she was not telling the truth.
If you believe she is telling the truth can you wait a week or more and ask her if that is alright and then reschedule the work. --67.22.x.xx |

Let the person know you are sympatric. Then ask if there is a second time when you can get this rescheduled so that they THEY don't have to pay for the MM service fee instead of you.
