Now if you add the costs of three shingle roofs over one steel roof then which roof will cost more now and in the future. Steel roof straight panels do not prorated warranties then ask why shingle roofs have prorated warranties. Suppose it costs double to install steel roof now then over a period of time which roof will cost less. What is cheap upfront is not cheap later on. So in the end why would anyone want to rent a roof. The seem less metal panels come in a wide selection of colours where if concerned about cooling costs a light colour will be better. A steel roof is a package where everything is from same manufacturer. Also if the dimensions of the roof are known the price out materials for shingle and steel. Years ago you could by roofing shingles for around $45 per 100 square feet. Now it's going to cost around $225 per 100 square feet. When the pandemic isn't an issue and oil goes from $80 per barrel back down to $45 per barrel, roofing prices will be cut down to $100 per 100 square feet or even less.. --47.155.xx.xxx

As the price of oil goes up then any product that uses oil the price will increase. The problem with asphalt shingles is the shingles can not be recycled where ends up in the landfill. In Europe they do not use asphalt shingles at all or fiberglass insulation. Metal, aluminum or clay tile. In severe weather shingles blow off. I always spend more upfront where found commercial products stand the test of time. Take locks the commercial grade locks are more difficult to break into along with can be used for fire doors there are no plastic parts. We had a major hail storm in April, had 16 houses hit. Finished the last one( mine ) two weeks ago. Acting as my own contractor, on average it cost me $185 per square ( a sq is 100 sq ft ). If you go to the websites of big box stores and hardware stores they make it sound like metal roof panels do exist as selling a roof then can last 30 years or more is not great for repeat business. So in the end what costs more upfront will cost less in the future as price of shingles will continue to rise every year. In the new sub divisions here all the shingle roofs have been replaced. The straight seamless metal panel is the best option for replacing a roof where it may cost double or a bit more then double where if count on four or five replacement roofs it will cost a lot less. When house or building is sold then the buyer will pay more as not having to worry about replacing roof. When installed metal panels on the house not a single roofer was interested in installing a roof that would last 30 years or more. The big box and hardware stores talk about being green when they push for shingles then wind up in a landfill which is not very green at all.
