Here a litre of gasoline is $1.39/9 per litre which includes the 4.4 per litre carbon tax and the HST 13 per cent sales tax. If multiply by 3.78 or 4.54 for Us and imperial gallon which is no longer used as in the eighties everything went to metric measurement. 5 imperial gallons equals 6 Us gallons. So to fill up truck which has a tank capacity of 80 litres costs $111.92 Cdn. Further south it costs around $1.50 and more per litre for regular gasoline. Wish had the funds to afford a Tesla as there is Tesla charging station in town. It would be easy to install a 240 Vac charging system in the house. Average fuel use varies from 8 to 12 litres for every one hundred kilometres where the larger pick up trucks will use 16 to 20 litres for every one hundred kilometres. Eventually those large pick up trucks are going to sold off where rapid depreciation is going to take place like the last time gasoline went up. In some countries in Europe a litre of gasoline will cost the equivalent of 3 Euros where large pick up trucks are extremely rare in Europe. During the pandemic oil consumption dropped dramatically where people stayed home along with no airline travel or cruise ships. A lot oil companies went bankrupt as extracting from the ground would be at a loss. In terms of physics it would be impossible to build a large pick up that would have low fuel consumption even with hybrid. Toyota will no longer use a V8 engine in the Tundra. It makes sense to electrify railway for passenger and freight where a electric locomotive can take less time to reach maximum speed. A single electric locomotive can pull one hundred cars along with reach speed of one hundred kilometres per hour in a shorter time period. Using large trucks is inefficient as the same amount of fuel is a lot less for locomotives as there is less friction steel on steel then rubber and asphalt. Some countries in Europe mainly use containers for shipping where there is very little truck traffic except in the cities. --99.236.xxx.xxx

Last Sunday I filled up one of our cars with regular at $3.18 & Tuesday I filled up my truck at the same station with the same regular gas but the price was $2.28. I checked back & just 1 year ago at the same station regular cost me $1.93. --71.184.xxx.xxx

Lynn, I just wanted to see if anyone actually read it. (g) Last evening I went to Logan & saw a place that was $2.89 for cash. Unfortunately I didn't need any gas. --71.184.xxx.xxx

People keep whining about gas prices. 15 years ago it was well over $4/gallon. I think it will get there again in a short period of time. Good thing most of my leases have a rent increase at $4/gal. (The other building is on gas and I can’t quite figure out how to word that as the price changes every single month according to demand.) --76.179.xxx.xx

Yet on my street there are so many people with big trucks that they mostly use to go to the 7 -11 and other menial chores,.AND they pass me while I go 72 on our 65mph highways like I am standing still. Also apparently flooring it pulling away from stops and merging onto interstates even when no reason (I remember the old public service commercials that you should pretend you have a raw egg between your shoe and the accelerator pedal),..I'm getting almost 40 mpg in my car that handles about 98% of my needs. --66.30.xx.xxx

Compared to other countries gasoline is a lot less in the Us where there are lot of large pick up trucks which use a lot of gasoline. Here some people here own full sized pick up trucks where it is going to cost more to fill up. If you take $3.18 per Us gallon then divide that by 3.78 that will work out to $0.84 per litre which is close to half to what the price of gasoline here. There is talk which may become reality where in the Us they are talking about a carbon tax which is going to push of gasoline further up along with natural gas, heating oil. A carbon tax is sneaky where passed then slowly every year the carbon tax goes up. Eventually when the price gets expensive there will be lot gas guzzling vehicles selling cheap like what happened the last time. When the price of heating oil spiked here a lot of houses which used oil for heat where installing ground sourced heat pumps. In one wants to look into the future where it maybe time to think about separating out all the utilities in rentals as anything included is going to be expensive. During the past few years demand dropped so low that it was going to cost more to extract crude then what was paid for crude. Now that demand is up the price of crude goes up as well. --99.236.xxx.xxx

Interesting. I have noticed that not one person in the other lanes, turns off their car at the bank drive thru when I am waiting to be next. I am going to assume that the fast food chains are the same way.

This tells me that the price hasn't risen as high as it can get. --184.57.xxx.xx
