Judgments don't have to be paid off when acquiring a property, they must be paid off when selling a property. The judgment attaches to the property. Check with your attorney. Mechanics lien in NY is only good for a year,it is meant that once you file you will then sue so only good for a year.A judgment is good for 20 years no renewal necessary but the mechanis lien may need to be renewed --72.231.xxx.xxx

I thought maybe you had to file the proof of service of the judgement on the debtor with the clerk too to perfect it, but maybe just filing the judgement perfects it --67.241.x.xxx
