So, how many have heard about the government wanting to track every deposit of $600 or more.
This silly stimulus bill has money allotted for IRS agents to track your bank deposits.
Much more work for banks, and I think people may make 2 $300 deposits instead of 1 $600 deposit.
Too much meddling as far as I am concerned.

This is pennies on the dollar where money invested in offshore tax havens pay no income tax at all. So the interest on deposit is really pennies on the dollar as banks pay low interest or nothing at all. JB is right. It is not just deposits of $600. It is any transactions between two people that total more than $600 over the entire year. Just like now, if you pay someone to work on your house more than $600 in a year, you have to 1099 them. Under this proposal the bank will become the IRS agent.
What's more the $600 has never been indexed to inflation, which we will soon have plenty of, so each year the threshold effectively becomes lower. --73.141.xxx.xxx |
