My landlord is my uncle , he has claimed I’ve abandoned my property. I still have all my things there including utilities remain on. I stay with boyfriend from time to time but I still live in residence. What do I do --74.132.xx.xx |

I’m not saying you or he did anything wrong, but since this is a family member, I’d just find other living arrangements and leave the place in good condition if you are able. I’m not going to jump to a conclusion that you aren’t paying rent, because we don’t know the whole story. Maybe he wants to sell. Maybe he is in failing health. Maybe he’s tired of landlording. Maybe he wants to get market rent and you aren’t paying market rent. In any event, it’s not worth it to stay and fight in this situation. Now: from a LEGAL perspective, I would reach out to a lawyer or a tenant group if you truly feel you need to stay so they can assess your rights. --172.58.xxx.xxx |
