Anyone know if/how you can find out who someone is from their license plate? This question is related to my previous question "Seriously?"

I'm a systems analyst for my county's 911 and sheriff dept. so in theory I can run plate checks but refrain from doing so unless I have written consent. --72.231.xxx.xx |

MY local police can look it up from the laptop in their patrol car.
BUT...they cannot tell me who it is.
BUT...give the officer a big smile or maybe puppy dog eyes and ask if you should be worried about this person.
Is this the stove guy?

Call a Private Detective and ask how much for the info. Runs between $100-$250 a pop, depending on your city/state. In CA, that information can only be released to a licensed attorney or an insurance company. I caught someone backing up to my parked car and drove away. I had to have my attorney run the license plate to get the information. Then I reported a Hit and Run and filed a case in small claims court. The guy didn't show up and I got a judgement. His insurance company appealed it. Now that the coast is above my deductible, $500, I had my insurance company deal with it. --47.155.xx.xxx |

I do want to know if I should I be worried about the guy.

About 30 years ago, in Los Angeles, I had an account with the CA Dept of Motor Vehicles. I could submit license plates to the DMV and they would report back to me the registered owner, and address. I was the parking enforcement officer at my condo building, and I needed to identify repeat "visitor parking" violators in order to issue notice of hearings for parking fines.
There were a bunch of hoops I needed to jump through to get the account established. This was just after the Rebecca Schaeffer murder and DMV tightened up its requirements in response.

NE (PA): Can't find her on FB anymore!! She was on there when I vetted her as that's how she found our place.
