Simplisafe works great. One great tip I learned from this board: Attach the sensors using the screws provided. The peel and stick pads may fail and cause a false alarm if the sensor falls off the door or window. --157.204.xxx.xxx |

Also, metal strippers often enter through the back door or window to avoid someone seeing them. The back door on my vacant is secured with a 2 by 6 and lag bolts into the door rough frame.This is on the inside, making the door kick proof. Stay overnight there with motion lights inside and your favorite array of weapons, a security system is useless for this - best you have is images - then spend a few days waiting at the scrapyards to find who matches the video and try to have police get this person. How will you prove the pipes they brought in are from your place? I suggest using PEX pipes and not leaving anything of value in the unit. --76.188.xxx.xxx |

My favorite types of security systems to ward off thieves:
A motion sensor light, place high up needed a ladder to remove. The light shines so bright it will wake up the neighbors.
Inside motion alarm hooked to an audio alarm, will shut off after 5 to 10 minutes.
A semi-retired Junk Yard Dog looking for his next meal inside the rental. They are rented out by the day, week or month. Picked up at 10am and returned at 6pm for duty.
A lot of snakes. I buy a bunch of life like snakes and have a pro deliver a real snake to bit intruders.
Or I'll contact ADT and sign a 2 year contract and get a free system at $50 per month. This includes alarm insurance and a cell tower connection to the central monitoring station. --47.155.xx.xxx |
