Can a lease include a clause such as ."In the event of unpaid rents, deposits, judgments, or damages, I hereby authorize landlord or its agent, the right to obtain future credit reports"?

I know you must have permission to pull credit reports but can the permission be given in advance? Sure would help in tracking people down.

It's not in my lease but it is on the application they sign for me to have permission to run the first credit report. Guess it could also be in the lease. --172.58.xx.xxx

Part of the wording of the Agreement and Authorization Statement on bottom of rental application (which applicant is asked to sign):

I hereby authorize a credit, eviction and/or criminal check to be made, both now and in the future, for rental consideration and for collection purposes if deemed necessary. --72.214.xx.xx

The formal rental application issued by our LL Association includes this statement: "Owner/Agent is authorized to obtain a credit report now and in the future". --71.198.xxx.xxx
