The man who snuck in a pittbull puppy is gone. Puppy gnawed on some woodwork and they somehow scraped several sq ft of paint off in living room. Then they pulled a wallboard surfaced to look like wallpaper away from wall and stuck a phone book under it(???). Otherwise fairly clean.

Before he moved in 2-3 years ago we completely redid bath. New surround. New tub, sink, and toilet. New lighting and fan. Beautiful. Also nice thick vinyl plank white oak "click" flooring.

There are 2 pink rings on bath and 1 on flooring. Neon pink about 7/8th in diameter and about 1/4 " wide. Like a lifesaver with sharp regular borders. We have tried everything,The Works toilet bowl cleaner, chlorox, Bar keepers friend and the rings remain. My mother has a matching ring on her bathroom floor. Must be some bathroom product.

Anybody know what it is and what to do about it? Also, if it can't be removed and all was new before him, can I charge him for permanent damage I cannot correct?

Have you tried pumice? I buy those pumice sticks in bulk. Might be a bit harsh but for cast iron/ceramic sinks, tubs, tile it works great. Not sure what type of material your tub is. I also use rustoleum tub and tile paint when in a bind --72.231.xxx.xx

Lana,

What is this thing you speak of..."phone book"?? A book that holds PHONES?? or to read about phones??:)

Pink ring: nail polish jar? Hair dye? Liquid suntan?

The stain is probably a red or brown stain that was bleached.

If your Mom has the same stain play detective with jars that size at her house.

Ask a pro steam carpet cleaner. They specialize in stain removal.

Back when we had carpet we used a product called RED OUT. Needs heat from a heat gun or iron to activate it.

Please report back with your findings. And a phone book!

Phone book Brad, as of Yellow Pages. Remember when we had phone books and phone booths? My mothers house will be tough as I removed all her cosmetics but her eyebrow pencils 2 years ago and cannot ask her. She is in end stage dementia and does interesting things with household items. It is the same pink ring though. I could ask former tenant I suppose. --216.23.xxx.xx

Did you try CLR or Magic Eraser? They've worked on tub stains for us like rust or more. --23.227.xxx.xxx

Lana,

Phone books...

Ah the good old days when we could actually FIND a number to call someone...and their address.

Phone books! I was in an event venue on Long Island, NY on Sunday - was delighted to see, in an alcove between the 1920's era bathrooms in this former mansion turned restaurant and club, three oak phone booths! Complete with rotary pay phones! I loved how they just left them in place after they'd become useless. (Yes, we had to present proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test from within 72 hours to be able to enter.) --71.162.xxx.xxx
