Has anyone come across the new thinscape countertop by wislonart that HD offers? I hate the stock laminate tops at the box stores and my go to one is now a special order sheet laminate. Plus it's all particleboard underneath which gets punked anyway. I'm concerned that it is only a half inch thick. What are you using in kitchens?

My units are C level places and mostly mobile homes. They attract C level tenants.

I get either used post form tops from Habitat Restore for maybe $25 or I get some plywood and a sheet of laminate and just glue the laminate onto the plywood and then trim it. Sometimes I can get the laminate at the restore too, but they don't have it too often. I don't much care what colors the tops or laminate might be as long as it works since these places are C units. The tenants don't care either.

No corian, no granite, no quartz stuff.

If the places were A or B units, it would be different. --24.180.xx.xx

Pretty expensive. European-inspired? OK, I guess that's trendy.

I just made a counter that look very much like it, but cheaper.

3/4" plywood with stone-look laminate glued on. It looks thin & sleek (European), but is plenty strong when supported properly. --68.229.xxx.xxx

Just remember that the countertop has to be strong enough to hold your tenant, or maybe both your tenants, as they get up on top of the counters and walk around.

For your own home, you probably don't have to worry so much about how much weight the counter will support. But a rental, it is impossible to make anything tenant-proof. Tenants can be very creative. --76.178.xxx.xxx

A better option is to build a form then use concrete mixed in with a colour additive then will have a concrete counter top which will outlast other types of counter tops. There are videos on You Tube on how to make a concrete counter tops. Like everything in a rental unit it has to able to stand up to abuse. --99.236.xxx.xxx

What dont you like about laminate counter tops from Home Depot? I use them for rentals and flips up to about $225000 which is almost all of mine --72.231.xxx.xxx
