Rooms continue to be in high demand in my area. I suspect this is simply due to a lack of affordable housing. Sometimes I feel like Captain Kirk on the Enterprise making sure my shields (screening process) are up so I don't get waylaid by a photon torpedo unleashed by the Klingons!
All rooming house applicants have to complete a google form and upload ID and proof of income before I schedule to show a room. Instead of uploading a paystub, this one uploaded an e-mail that was basically an offer letter. No paystub:
Me: I'll need a copy of your latest pay stub showing year to date totals as well as the current pay period.
Applicant: I am unable to because my important paperwork is in storage I can give you my bosses number if you want to call him on Monday.
Me: Most paystubs are available on the internet nowadays. Also your employer can provide you another copy.
Applicant: I don’t have access to it online, never mind I will just rent a room from someone else. Thanks
Apparently a simple request is problematic. Granted, the current job is new but that's why it's all the more important to show if you were gainfully employed before. The criteria for rooming house applicants is less than it is for apartment applicants, but you definitely need to show evidence of consistent employment. She'll be very hard pressed to find a room from someone else. Most rooming houses are full and with little turnover. Shields up!
