A person can not protect themselves or loved ones using a gun or excess force.

A call to the police is like a cry for help in an empty forest, someone may hear you but few come to your aid!

A landlord is not allowed to collect rent.

Housing had doubled fee's and giving no extra services to the landlord -- only helping out tenant who refuse to work or pay rent with their subsidies.

She was quoted as saying "I'm not here about gun control". Yeah right. And the eviction moratorium was about stopping the spread. Does she think gun owners are that naïve? Her in Texas we have a saying "be wary of people who look right and shoot left".

I'm not against the gathering of statistics. I find it astounding that we don't have a better method already. I think it was wrong to block the collection of those stats.

Because in the long run, I think they would find that the MAJORITY - a MAJORITY - of gun deaths are caused by criminals with illegal guns.

And further, I think they would find that the majority of mass shootings are done by people with mental health issues who are either taking or have just STOPPED taking psychotropic drugs (anti-depressants, etc.)

Recently helped a young woman get her abusive stalker of an ex-boyfriend's CC permit and guns taken away. He was violently abusive when they were together - even broke her leg once - and extremely stalker-ish once she finally broke it off. It had reached the point where all the signs said, "He is going to kill her and then himself." And she works at a school - so you know where my mind was going.

Scary part is that I discovered he had been the subject of a Protection Order in his past at the age of 18 - how this did not turn up during a background check to get a CC is beyond me. If I could find it, certainly the police could. However his mother works for an attorney so maybe he helped squash it.

WMH, if he wants her harmed, she’ll be harmed. Gun or no gun. The problem with getting guns taken away for PFA’s is that in some areas, PFA’s and confiscation can be done with simple finger pointing. He did this to me!, She says. Game over for the guy until he proves his innocence. My own real estate partner had that happen to him with his psychotic daughter in law. False claim and he had to surrender his guns until court. And this man is NO THREAT to anybody.

If they’re convicted of a violent crime, I’m ok with that. Open to interpretation by bureaucrats as to who’s a threat and who isn’t? No way. And that’s all you’ll get from “disease” officials like the CDC. Way off base even sticking their noses in the 2nd amendment discussion.

Not an advocate of "Gun Control" as shouted by the masses, but I do believe we as responsible people need to control guns. Just as you would not allow a toddler to play with your .44, violent criminals and other idiots should not either.

OK, so this is way OT, but today is kind of a day of reflection for me, so here goes...

I'm beginning to feel we are living in Russia, in 1917.

The growing question is, will our future be under a totalitarian fascist police state, or totalitarian socialist police state? The government, from the President down to local councils, is using the Constitution for toilet paper and Congress seems unwilling or incapable of acting to defend it. The CDC is now a factor in this.

When your right to control your property, or your human right of self defense is stripped away by oligarchs, plutocrats and the police class, and you are denied the rights enjoyed by your oppressors, while your right of redress is denied or ignored at every turn. Then civil rights and in fact the very core of your human rights, liberty and freedom has ended, and your choice becomes capitulate or fight.

The solution is very simple, on the surface. If criminals did not have guns, and we provided a humane way for rational people to peacefully end their lives, or to get help before blowing their brains out, or a family members, it would solve 90% of "gun violence." The rest is mostly people defending themselves from barbarians.

But you will not ever disarm criminals. The ONLY thing bullies and barbarians understand is brute force. I thought Teddy Roosevelt taugh us that 120 years ago. The taliban certainly understand this. They and the criminals laugh at the stupidity of those who empower them.

So it becomes incumbent upon the population to ensure they have the ability to defend their children,families, homes, businesses and selves from assault by individuals. Or from rogue governments who refuse to respect the rule of law, instead ruling by fear and decree, with an iron hand raised against disidents.

Gun owners are continuiously being forced to capitulate under threat of government reprisal, without representation or redress of grievence. Compromise is not in the vocabulary of the gun control anti-self defense advocates. Frankly our parents and grandparents should have stopped these infringements in 1934, and 1968, and 1984. Now we are a nation at each others throats, teetering on civil war.

We all saw the Captiol attack. The seething anger was palitable. If the "maga army" had been armed and actually siezed the Capitol and Congress, we'd be in a whole new world right now. There was just a running paintball battle on the streets of Portland between two extremist factions. Both sides have real guns. When will they switch from bear spray and shooting pepperballs or throwing fireworks at each other, to real bullets and IED's?

There may well be trying times ahead. The fact we have reached a point where we even feel the need to discuss such topics in a forum of educated business people and mostly older Americans is just, plain, scary.

The fact we are still able to openly discuss this, says it's not too bad, yet.

How many times has the CDC been slapped by the Federal Courts for exceeding its Constitutional bounds and authority.

I'm all for common sense fighting the virus but we have 97% effective vaccines now. And they had no business whatsoever dictating who pays for whose free housing and pulling out Sharpies on rental leases.

CDC is trying to set itself up as a 4th branch of gov't, with control over everything that affects public health-----which means simply eveerything.

First they (gov't) instill FEAR. Then allow those unelected to rule us.

Now we've added the military to those over us with no gov't oversight.
