Actually, the Legislature extended the deadline. This was AB832.
And extending the deadline was only a small part of that bill. It went into effect more than a month ago.
Since it was urgency legislation, it required a 2/3 majority to pass.
The vote was 65-9 in the Assembly, and unanimous in the Senate.

The world is something different to the JOKERS that run Los Angeles and neighboring City's. L.A. the Moratorium runs through March 01, 2022. Soon to be extended again anyways.
A friend is behind with tenants owing his company in the Six Digits. So he withheld future tax estimate payments. The Franchise Tax Board (California) and the IRS (Fed's) sent him collection notices. They will collect taxes or take it to the next level.
Friend can't evict, sue in most courts and has to pay taxes on monies he will never see, so he says don't know how true all of the facts are here. --47.155.xx.xxx |

The puffy doughboy governor here in Colorado just pushed it to September, and at the end of August he will extend it again. I bet it goes through the end of the year. I don't know why this hasn't been successfully challenged in court. No other private business is being forced to provide a free service.

All of this is crazy and cant wait for things to get back to normal.
We have been lucky since Va. seems to be the best state. With how they handled rent relief. I have so many tenants that are paid in advance. We ask them to keep paying while they apply. So far everyone has done this. Since covid, most have made more income and not less.
Then we wait 6 to 8 weeks. Rent Relief will wire us a payment for 4 months. Then after all these funds are used. We repeat and apply again.
Other states, I wonder if they are holding on to the funds on purpose. IN PA., they made it hard for tenants to get the rent relief.
“ Pennsylvania tenants and homeowners missed out on roughly $108 million of $175 million in federal coronavirus relief because state programs distributing the funding made it too hard to access.. The remaining money will be redistributed to the state’s Department of Corrections. “
Well I guess you can say it did go to housing.
But not all good new. Va. has been bad with so many new tenant friendly laws. So risk are much higher. This has resulted in higher rent increases for all our tenants.
And we have decided to start selling some when become vacant. But so far since covid. None are moving.
