Does anybody know how to retrieve an email that just suddenly disappears from the inbox?
I did not move it, it literally just disappeared!
All I know how to do is look in trash & spam - not there.

If it's in gmail, try the search box at the top and type in who it is from. That should call up any emails from that sender.
If not gmail, maybe the search function of that one or possibly customer support? --24.180.xx.xx |

Use the search box and type in the sender's name-or part of it. --73.230.xxx.xx |

Maybe the sender retracted it before you read it? --73.230.xxx.xx |

Would it help to know I was viewing it on my iPhone, and going back and forth between the email & text?
After texting someone, I went back to the email I had just viewed to copy / paste info for them - and it wasn't there. --68.229.xxx.xxx |

Later used my laptop to look for it, searched & looked in different folders.
Nope --68.229.xxx.xxx |

OMG!! I just found it!
I swear it was NOT there before, but it was in trash now.
I copied it into a document before it could run away again LOL
Thanks, anyway, y'all! --68.229.xxx.xxx |

I've noticed that sometimes if you are moving it from the inbox to one of the files that it can take a couple minutes. I'm thinking that the system might be in heavy use at those times and it just takes a bit to make the trip.
Good thing our cars don't work like this! Turn the wheel to go around a corner and it just waits a minute or two before it responds. :) --24.180.xx.xx |

If you accidentally “archive” an email, it will hide it from your inbox but will show up in searches. The Gmail app is frustrating because that’s what it does when you swipe to delete unless you reconfigure it. You probably just accidentally swiped on it somehow. --73.177.xxx.xx |

This is why I think this Internet thing will never catch on.
Post Script. I've noticed some delays before. I tend to think it is the ability of the computer I'm using and not so much the email provider.
I'm glad your email came back! --108.28.xx.xxx |
