Hi. I need the name brand of a good motion sensor flood light for over the garage door.

I have a motion sensor light on the garage over the door. It is cheap junk and was installed in a hurry by an electrician who really didn't want to work.

It was stuck on all day and now it is not coming on. I suspect the bulbs just died. I have to get the electrician to put new ones in as no available handyman and I can't do ladders anymore.

So I might as well get a good one. Can anyone tell me which brand is reliable and sturdy and I don't care how much it costs. Thank you. There is some trouble in that neighborhood now with a car theft, car keying and someone asking dog walkers for money after dark. --108.24.xx.xx

If you are unsteady on ladders get one with LED lights rather then replacement bulbs which could be LED but someone would have to go up unscrew and replace them - also risk of insurgents from the bordering places unscrewing them to have access to what was once covered by the light. --76.188.xxx.xxx

I would buy a light with built in LEDs. You won't need to worry about bulb replacement ever again. However, the motion detector itself will always be a common fail point. --73.177.xxx.xx

Anyone have a brand name of a good solid motion sensor light? Maybe from a security company manufacturer? I'm not unsteady on ladders. The right leg doesn't want to go up without some muscle pain. Left one OK. --108.24.xx.xx

As the lens cover for the eye gets dirty I suspect that may be causing the lights to stay on all the time. If it were cleaned well and new bulbs installed that might fix it. --73.25.xx.xxx

can't help with a brand name but over my garage I've got a dusk to dawn flood light with motion sensor built in. It is lit all the time but when it senses motion it gets very bright for a short while (perhaps 10 minutes). --72.70.xxx.xxx

We too use a dusk-to-dawn light with motion detection. The bulb is a halogen one. We have to use gloves or something when putting a new bulb.

The price of Ring camera lights has gone down. I think that the lights of the unit are also dusk-to-dawn with motion detection.

Best of luck, and I'd love to know what you end up choosing. --107.142.xxx.xx

It stopped working properly almost immediately and just stayed on so likely just crap. Had bad tenants so I just let it stay on. --108.24.xx.xx

The motion lights you want will not be found at HD or lowes. Costco had a sale on some this spring. Go w leds. Can't vouch for the quality but the return is garunteed. Most recent one I had problems w from HD could not be repaired and they gave me a store credit over the phone. Fortunately it was still waranteed. --24.194.xxx.xxx
