Hell everyone. I am installing a new hot water heater and the way it is designed the TPR valve directs out the back and towards the wall.
I know there are some rules for where it discharges, minimum of 6" from the ground etc but in general is it considered OK to route the discharge pip with a few elbows so that it discharges out the front instead of the back? --74.130.xxx.xxx |

A transition fitting then a shore piece of 3/4" pex line then can bent without any elbows. --99.236.xxx.xxx |

The preformed tubes are very inexpensive, the first fitting out must be metallic, why bring it towards the control when you can have it away? --76.188.xxx.xxx |

If you are installing a new water heater, consider a basin and drain line routed outside the house. This will cost little and save you a lot of water damage.
I keep the water turned off in my rentals when they are vacant. I went into the vacant rental and turned on the water. The water heater failed instantly and pumped out about 5 gallons of water before I saw it. Imagine that leak running all night. --96.234.xxx.xxx |

Hello Bit!
Discharge tubes must be heat resistant to 180 degrees at 100psi so no pvc. Some pex is rated “up to” 180 but my inspectors will not allow it.
Code says “as short and straight as possible”.
Os the discharge tube on the side or the top? If on top consider turning so you can have a short pipe across the top then 90 down
Side: maybe a braided flex line, like the ones used to install the WH, to curve to gain access for the straight downtube.
Or ask your building inspector what they will suggest and allow.
