I've got a crusher waste lane approximately 600 feet long through the woods. It's been there forever. Time to do some much needed maintenance. I was going to replace with the same but he is telling me my lane is perfect for asphalt millings. Price will actually be a tad less. I'm not big on permits and township zoning doesn't specifically mention this - guessing regulations were written prior to these millings becoming a readily available source for consumers. I think it's probably a grey area between redoing (permit required) and fixing (no permit).
Any negatives I'm not seeing?

Nicole, I am unfamiliar with a crusher waste line, how it is used, what you hope to accomplish with this project.
I do have experience using asphalt millings on a large gravelled lot. Overall, it was an improvement. No dust,no mud, less weeds. It needs to be graded well and rolled in order to avoid water holes. --149.76.xxx.xxx |

I would expect crusher or millings to be viewed the same as gravel by the township. I wouldn't ask, just do it. If you can make an argument that it is a repair then they would have a hard time proving otherwise to a judge.
If pavement is completely removed it is taken out in big pieces and then run through a rock crusher. Millings are produced by the thin milling that is performed to put an overlay on the existing surface. Both have great alternative to gravel. No dust and it packs relatively tight and tends to bind after summer heat melts the remaining tar. The crusher tends to be larger chunks, some up to a couple of inches across, millings tend to be small finer material. The best solution is to put crusher down as a base with millings on top to produce a smoother surface. --209.16.xx.xxx |
