Jeffrey said many folks had been asking about me and asked me to give ya'll an update.
First, thank you for all the love and prayers from my friends here and from Convention.
You KNOW I had to be really sick to miss Convention!
God ran me thru the wringer. On May 28 I came down with an awful pain and fever - an internal infection - and spent several days in my local hospital. Big mistake! They made sooo many medical errors!
For the next few weeks I had no energy, not even checking text messages. It seems they sent me home with the infection still raging. (the infection showed on the blood test but they said "those are wrong all the time so go home and drink some Gatorade".)
After a few weeks of misery I went to another hospital and they responded quickly and efficiently, on the operating table within hours at 3 am in an effort to save my kidney from being removed. He said if I had waited 24 more hours they would have taken it out.
They had to wheel me into that hospital but after a few day of expert care I was able to walk out. I'm at home now, feeling better every day.
I told my kids I was no longer circling the drain so they could stop arguing about who gets my Porsche!
My first accountant told me the first thing they do at a hospital is extract out a quart of squirrel juice (your energy). Praise the Lord it's coming back a little each day now.
Lessons: when I was in the agony of a raging fever and they were talking about cutting me open and asking if I have a will, it seemed I could enter the Throne Room in prayer in a way I've never experienced before or after. God heard and answered my prayers and I thank Him for that.
A good Wifey is beyond measure. She was by my side the entire time and still helps with my meds and medical dressings.
Good helpers kept our business running. They simply followed the systems in place and gave me brief positive updates.
Autodraft: the rents just kept coming in.
We all need an exit plan. Rentals are a good business but there will come a day when I'm not able or I lose the helpers. This can happen in an instant like it did to me.
Properties cannot be put on pause. They must be maintained and residents must be care for, non-stop, never ending.
OK, long enough. Thanks again and I'm back, baby steps.

I'm glad to hear you survived your hospital oddsey. May you heal fully. It is not an unfamiliar story. I was fighting sepsis and they were going to send me home. My medical family insisted I stay put until my fever was clear for 24 hrs. 5 days of iv drip and I turned a corner. Sounds like and like you had it much worse. I always use the Dr's in the larger city which is 40 minutes away. They see more patients and are in teaching hospitals. Plus the local hospital has high staff turnover because they skimp on pay. I learned six years ago how life can change in an instant. In my case it was a man driving a car that was not his, had no insurance(against MO state law), was talking on his cell phone, was not paying attention to his driving. I had been on my way to help with a lawn mower clinic. I didn't make it.

WOW! That sounds like quite the adventure and not the good kind! I was checking for advice from you with the search feature and saw you hadn't left any for a LONG time and that did get my concerns up. Also I went to your company FB page and people were saying they couldn't get any responses from anyone, so that doubled my concern! Anyway, I sometimes just check for answers from you (and a few others) knowing how wise you are on many matters. I am thankful you're feeling better and wifey is taking good care of you. I wondered if you got Covid. I was at the Convention when Jeffrey announced the bad news that you would not be there. There was a strange eerie silence in that room of 300 people when it was announced that you were in the hospital with some type of intestinal issue.
What happened in the next 2 days without your presence was even more weird. The camaraderie and fanfare that normally happens with your presence was just not there. It was like everyone had come to see Elvis Pressley but Elvis did not show up. There was a definite void here. --68.63.xxx.xxx |

My guess was that you were on vacation as you seem indestructible. So massive kidney infection or other infection that attached to your kidney?
So I had cancer surgery, hysterectomy, and was in the recovery room in horrible pain and kept asking for pain meds and the nurse or whatever she was, said she was giving me the largest dose allowed. So I told her something was wrong. She did nothing so I had to start yelling out in the recovery room for a doctor. Another patient called one and he came over and saw that my iv connection had come apart and the pain meds were going on to the bed sheets. I have seen stories on the news about people having to scream for help in a recovery room. So then I felt better. In the hospital room I had a nurse who refused to get me a drink of water because "you are not thirsty as you are on an iv". I explained that my throat was dry and painful and I begged for water so she got me water. She told me there was someone "really sick" down the hall and not to bother her. Then a poorly trained LPN got me up into a chair on doctor's orders and the chair was too big and as I sat back I tore a hernia in the internal stitch line, I found out later. After that I had stomach acid and my dumb doctor had not left orders for any over the counter things as he never asked me what I might need. Another nurse had to call him at midnight I was in such distress. Next day doctor came in angry with hands on hips and told me he was sending me home. It was only 30 hours after big abdominal surgery and I was supposed to stay one more day according to the surgeon. So home I went and could not lie down. Slept in a chair for two days until i could get a hospital bed sent out. My friend who helped me said she thought I was going to die in that chair. Got the hernia surgery the following year after figuring out I had one and why. Everyone has to have a friend follow them along in the hospital who knows something about medical things. I would recommend being friends with a former nurse and former nurses could start a service for helping like this and make some money. --108.24.xx.xx |
