I saw a post on my NextDoor app about a lost cat. The woman posting has two cats, and the lost cat is the ESA for the other cat, and of course, she is looking for a new place to rent as soon as kitty comes home. Around here, loose kitties are coyote food. The "ESA" part really takes the cake. I had no idea! --68.8.xxx.xxx

Hmm. Disallow the first animal because it's a pet - then the pet's ESA will go away too...? --50.82.xxx.xxx

On of my tenants got an ESA cat. Then married and wife got an ESA dog. After 2 years they applied for a grant (down payment) to buy a house. They never told the bank that their Cat and Dog were ESA. They got the loan and moved out. This was before I started to reject applicants based on the type of monster dog/cat the have. A cat they won't fix and pee's everywhere or a dog they allow to poop on the front lawn unattended. Now 1 picture of an un leashed dog, I issue a 3 day notice to perform or quit. --47.155.xx.xxx

Robert J, why would the bank care or need to know they had animals or if the animals were ESAs? --72.231.xxx.xxx

Ken. Some "people" are "nuts" and need an excuse not to work or fulfill their obligations. Having a pet "dog" is one thing, but asserting you "need" and "ESA" animal in your life, it another tell.

Like my tenants with ESA dogs. It's too difficult to walk them three times a day, so pads on the kitchen floor is their answer. Picking up after and outside poop on the buildings front lawn is too much of a hassle.

While my tenants with pet dogs will drop the dog off at a relative's house before they go to work and pick the dog up after work -- so the dog can play with little children or other pets....not stuck in a home/apartment because a PERSON NEED A DOG, NOT A DOG NEEDS A PERSON TO TAKE CARE OF THEM -- ROLL REVERSAL. --47.155.xx.xxx

Nextdoor has a lot of goofy stuff.

On mine someone used ND to rehome a tropical bird that they couldn't keep (and gave it to the person for free). Then there was outrage when it was discovered that the recipient turned around and sold the bird to someone else online.

And then there was the panhandler with the dog. They started donating money for the dog's "go fund me" for vet care and surgeries. It turns out the panhandler is an addict and none of that money went to the dog's care. --72.188.xxx.xxx
