Only did it once. Pull down stairs into a common hallway with front and back doors open. The squirrel was trying to eat it’s way out and didn’t want to be there so it wasn’t too difficult. Better and easier than I was expecting because the original call from the tenant was there was a rat in the attic and there were rat issues in the neighborhood. --75.67.xxx.xxx

Set have a heart traps or hire someone. You will need to figure out where the entry point is and seal it. --75.67.xxx.xxx

I had the problem PERSISTENTLY when I had the rooming house.

Sealed up the hole where they were entering - they chewed another.

Moth balls, pepper spray, etc - nothing worked until I bought a couple strobe lights off amazon. plugged them in and ran them constantly in the attic. They didn't like that and left.

Also trimmed back tree branches from the house - but they still got in by tight-rope-walking across the power line from the pole to the roof, then through whatever hole they chewed. Ultimately, I had to convert it to underground electric service to finally put an end to the madness.

You can buy round disc-like things to attach to the power line that spin and stop squirrels from getting by. I was not allowed to use them, but you might. --68.229.xxx.xxx

Really more effective to call a service. They will set traps and repair entry holes. They know what to look for and it's affordable. --172.56.xx.xxx

If you use a service or trap it yourself, be sure the squirrel is either euthanized or relocated at least 10 miles away. --107.141.xx.xxx

Those critters are so destructive. I used a service that located the point of entry and set a live catch trap at the opening. They trapped and euthanized five of those tree rats. They then put a cardboard cover over the access. When the access cover had not been disturbed for four days, they sealed the opening with metal.

Tree rats are mammals and can be carrying rabies and therefore by Ohio law must be euthanized and not relocated or released. --184.57.xxx.xx

Ok so I struggled with this for two years and the poor tenant too. They were right over her bedroom. I got the strobe light and they would not allow me to put it in the attic because the brother was sensitive to them. I hired a guy with traps and he put them up there and caught one but the other trap never caught any. I went up and got it and it never worked in the first place. I hired another guy and he charged me $400 up front and caught one and took it with him although I wanted it released at my home. So I bought a trap and put it under a tree that led to the roof and caught five or six and took them to my neighborhood. But there was still noise. The roof needed to be redone soon so I got it redone and they pulled the gutters and found about 6 feet of board behind the gutters had been chewed through. So they fixed that and replaced the roof and no trouble since. Cost me 10 grand for the roof on a 1,900 sq ft building. So my advice is to get a service that will find the entrance and put live traps but not at $400 that arrogant schmuck charged me. I got the strobe on Ebay. It's flat and not expensive. --108.24.xx.xx

I had a family of squirrels in the attic of an apartment property at purchase. So at first I went around and found how they were getting in the attic. So I closed off all but 1 for their escape.

Then I borrowed a "Tom" cat. This cat would not eat or attach the squirrels, he was raised with rabbits, chip monks, etc. But the squirrels didn't now that. So in the attic I placed a LED flood light and the cat. Within minutes of the cat walking around an smelling things the squirrels escaped out of the attic. And then I closed the last void. Then I gave the "Tom" cat some juicy chicken liver as a reward... --47.155.xx.xxx

In my area Critter Control. They may be in multiple states. Start searching and you'll find a service, it's really not expensive when you consider the process and a few trips and they secure the entrance points. --172.56.xx.xx
