The rest of the question, what brand do you like for longevity and availability of parts and customer service if you DO need to replace parts in the future ? Moen, Delta, etc, etc ... Believe I am done buying the lowest price point stuff ...

I am a plumbing contractor and landlord. I have inventory and parts dating back from the early 1900's. In the olden days when a manufacturer made a faucet, they had to continue making parts for decades. No so any more. When Home Depot has a "Special" facet by the truck load, then they are done selling out, there will be no more replacement parts any more. So when I found a well designed import, I buy extra faucets to tear them apart for replacement parts.

One bathroom sink faucet I purchased a case of 50. Putting 35 in service and taking 15 apart for their parts. Now I"m down to my last few extra this and that...

It does not pay to get junk. Some knock off's are designed to use Delta, Pfister, Moen and other's parts...too --47.155.xx.xxx

I go to my local plumber's supply store for the stuff that's got the most solid parts internally. Unfortunately, from the outside, it often looks like the really cheap stuff... unless you're willing to spend $300-$500 to look like the moderately cheap stuff. ;)

When I first started, I used the store brand. I'd have stuff failing at random all the time, so I upgraded to the Moen. Not entry-level, but the stuff you get if you spend an extra $40-$50-$60 over the entry level. I still forget, and will pick it up occasionally... but some of my plumbers will still sneer at the cheap innards of a $100-$125 Moen faucet set, and I'll buy an ugly-on-the-outside faucet from them with nice, hefty brass innards. --137.118.xx.xxx

You might already this but just in case you don't know, be aware that:

You can buy a decent quality brand name faucet at the plumbing supply store that you will probably be satisfied with.

You can buy the same brand faucet that looks the same on the outside (same design, same model name, and maybe similar model number) at a store like Home Depot.

However there is a significant difference. If you look closely you will see for example more plastic used to build the Home Depot version. Of course the Home Depot version will save you some money but it isn't worth the savings. Get the higher quality version at the plumbing supply store.

Just to be clear about my previous post above, I assume both faucets are made by the same faucet manufacturer. It's just that that manufacturer makes a special cheaper version for Home Depot to sell in their stores. If Robert J is still following this thread, maybe you might have more info on this issue.

As usual my route is different then many. When I have faucets go out-- dripping etc. I change the whole assy. A new mid line bath faucet cost 25 to 33.00. Kitchen with sprayer 37 to 50. I just don't mess with repacking. Yank it out put in new cause in the long run-- just NOT stocking parts or spending hours looking for that right part is worth it. Also the tenants jump for joy that they're getting NEW.

Shower drips of course are different-- got to repack them but thats usually just a new washer or seat. On toilets-- when ever either a fill valve or flapper is changed the other component is changed. Flapper is 7.00 fill vale is 13.00. --99.103.xxx.xxx

For the lower rent places, I buy Glacier Bay. They hold up to tenants just as well as anything else and they are cheap to replace if I need to replace them, which doesn't happen often.

Their cheapest ones look really cheap but for a couple of dollars more they have faucets that look like the expensive brands.

My son bought a fancy kitchen faucet for his house here and it is truly wonderful, but I don't know what brand and I wouldn't pay nearly that much for a rental faucet, anyway.

He bought a really expensive one for his last house and it looked fabulous and was a piece of junk that was leaking in less than a year. What they cost doesn't seem to indict the quality. --76.178.xxx.xxx

I dug around in the warranty drawer and the kitchen faucet is made by Kraus. It's one of those pull down sprayers on a big spring and I'm sure a tenant would figure out how to break it in short order.

So that's a big NO! for a rental. --76.178.xxx.xxx

Also at one time Pfister used to tell us there was a lifetime warranty on parts. Even for rentals if SFH

Not that has changed to 10 years only. And by then a lot of the parts are no longer made, even if you want to pay for them. --73.40.xx.xx

Big box stores sell a lower grade of plumbing supplies and faucets where a plumbing supply sells better quality although the price is higher. Plumbers can afford call backs where what is cheap is not good option. Replacing shut1/4 off valves with 1/4 turn ball valves will make maintenance a lot easier where will also eliminate leaks as even a minor leak can cause costly damage. --99.236.xxx.xxx

I started out with Moen because of their amazing customer service. If a shower starts dripping, they'll send you a replacement cartridge for free. If a kitchen faucet fails, they'll send you a replacement for free.

But I started getting tired of calling their customer service number, and had more than one kitchen faucet fail in less than 3 years, with considerable cabinet damage before I noticed the leakage that the tenants hadn't. Even if the replacement faucet is free, the labor isn't.

I'm starting to replace with Pfister as units fail. So far, so good. --104.230.xxx.xx

I buy the second grade of Home Depot faucets. They are metal outside instead of plastic. They tend to last several years and when they go it takes 15 minutes to put in a new one. I have had multiple plumbers tell me to stick with Delta or Moen as they say that they are easier to install and often easier for replacement parts. Great idea from a few of you to just install a new faucet every time that there is a problem. Labor rate for plumbers at $120 - $170/hour here in Wisconsin is much more expensive than the faucet (especially for bathroom faucets). Thanks all! --65.31.xxx.xxx

- Ace hardware in CA is great source, too - I got 9 kitchen faucets in 2019 - originally $130.00 -they had marked at $67 and I offered him $25 each for all and got them for $31.... Never afraid to ask for a deal if I buy all the stock want gone off the clearance table..... --98.42.xx.xxx

I would like to chime in with experience . A Kohler bathroom sink faucet that is over 30 years old, recently bit the dust, the plunger thingy rusted and fell apart. I contacted the company to see if they might have something that would work without replacing the whole set, expecting to pay, and happy to do so because the existing spout clears the custom mirrored cabinet door by a mere 1/4 inch. To my delight Kohler, they sent the replacement plunger part, and apologized for the death of the old part, sent it free and prompt.

You get what you pay for in the long run.

After having a number of bad experiences with Delta, I won't buy them any more. I've utilized Moens for my bathroom vanity and shower assemblies from the plumbing supply houses. I occasionally also use them for kitchens, but prefer Chicago brand undermount faucets. They're super easy to change out seat washers, and have lasted me decades. Also, having a shop that exclusively deals with faucet parts is worth its weight in gold. I had a single handle Moen kitchen faucet that suddenly turned difficult to turn off. I changed the unit out, and turned it in to the faucet guy, who rebuilt it with new internal parts for $20.00. Now that unit is ready to be re-installed elsewhere. Finally, if you know your quality faucets, you can pick up faucets and other plumbing essentials at stores which sell used building materials that were donated from other demolition or remodeling jobs. I just picked up a $175.00 Moen kitchen sprayer assembly for $25.00. --174.208.xxx.xxx

Brand is irrelevant!

There are a lot of good brands mentioned. I pay closer attention to the internal moving parts regardless of the brand. Let's face it, that is what becomes worn and makes any faucet leak. A master plumber/band member friend of mine told me to look for "ceramic disk function". I have seen a gerber with ceramic disk function last 50 years without leaking!

So far so good... --72.228.xx.xxx

Delta is what I changed everything to, a little more expensive up front but super cheap in the long run. I love it that we only have a few parts to carry for repairs. When we go in for a drip, we just go ahead and change both seats and springs out. Does not cost much at all and it only takes just a very few minutes. I use to run all over town for parts for those old faucets, was glad to get rid of every last one of them. Remind me to stay away from you in the future, you are going to want to KISS me and I will not approve of that. --68.39.xxx.xx

Pay the extra $20, install it, and NEVER have to touch it again.

I have never had a call back or service request on a Pfister. How much is that worth?

Delta is easy to fix BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO!

Moen cartridges are expensive. Again, why install something that needs a new cartridge every so often?

I'm in this for FREEDOM!!! not to show off my handyman skills.
