On April 16 2021 I had a fire break out in my utility room in my one bedroom apartment while I was asleep the smoke detector never went off and thankfully I was awakened by the smoke burning my nose and throat thank God my next door neighbors and upstairs neighbor and myself was not injured the fire and the smoke did a significant amount of damage and I had to go to the emergency room I had smoke inhalation and dehydration. My rental insurance covered my property damages and my loss of use insurance covered for my hotel say while repairs were supposed to be done in apartment once my apartment leasing department denied my request to be placed temporarily in another apartment until . I was told that they were no unit available and that’s was not true. Once the Arson investigation was conducted was found to be caused by electrical fire from the faulty dryer that’s was the property of the apartments the repairs took three weeks to complete and when I was informed by the leasing office to the repairs were completed I returned to my apartment to find black smoke damage walls that had been painted over and there are multiple other health and safety issues with my unit they make it uninhabitable and I moved Breaking the remaining four months lease case they would not let me terminate it. I am not financially able to hire a lawyer and I’m not getting feed back from my rental insurance about any insurance subrogation so I don’t know where to find help in this matter? --74.192.xxx.xx

Me neither.

Weather your apartment is habitable is between you and other people and is an OPINION. You've moved and solved your problem. Keep bugging your insurance company.

What are you thinking makes it uninhabitable? --73.120.xx.xxx

Most states should have a department that governs insurance companies. Contact them. --72.70.xxx.xxx

What Nicole said. Also, a tenant forum is a better place for a post like yours. BTW, punctuation is your friend - that was really hard to read with the lack of periods! --96.245.xx.xx
