If you are on the East coast this may be visible:

WALLOPS ISLAND, VA — NASA is set to launch a rocket from its Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia on Saturday at 8:10 p.m. If skies are clear the launch should be visible to people up and down the eastern seaboard.

The mission is called KiNet-X, with the Black Brant XII rocket blasting off. This study will help scientists better understand things like Auroras and how they are formed and their movement from place to place.

The rocket will release a barium vapor about 9-10 minutes into the flight north of Bermuda at an altitude of more than 200 miles. NASA will be studying the vapor release with diagnostic instrumentation onboard the rocket.

The rocket should be visible to the southeast 30 to 60 seconds after the launch at 8:10 p.m. on Saturday.

And a Space X Falcon 9 rocket is set to lift off from Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center with the launch window at 6:54 p.m. ET.

When I was a kid they were sending rockets up from Wallops Island also. My dad would keep an eye out and call me outside if there was anything to see. Thank you for the reminder. That was over 60 years ago. --108.24.xx.xx

There was one the other night, wasn't there? Someone posted a lovely once in a lifetime shot of a rocket going over one of the lighthouses. --50.82.xxx.xxx

So Kevin, I went out to look to the SE but there is a taller house in the way and some trees. I looked online and kept finding links to watching online but none of them seemed to work.

Last week I saw a photo someone here in NJ had taken at a place called Barnegat Light in Cape May which sticks out right into the ocean. Nice photo of the rocket. It was lower toward the horizon so no way I would have seen it forty miles inland. When I was a kid they might have shot them in a different way or direction. That was after Sputnik went up in 1956 or 57. I guess they were trying everything to get something up there like the Russians did. --108.24.xx.xx

So spaceweather dot etc. has a photo today of a green blob over Rhode Island resulting from the Wallops Island launch on the 16th if anyone wants to see. They are investigating auroras and found that barium in the upper atmosphere energizes solar emissions to form auroras. --108.24.xx.xx
