Today's headline/ Chicken shortage sends price soaring, Restaraunt can't keep up.
The article talks about the recent trend toward healthier food choices and the popularity of chicken sandwiches at fast food places.
Combine that uptick in demand with scarcity of labor.
As LLs we mist keep up with chanhes in our customers' interests.

Amen Brad, re: customer demand changes.
Regarding the "healthy" aspect, I'm not so sure. The picture under the headline is a KFC bucket, and the first paragraph talks about shortage of deep fried wings. Only Americans swap 20 oz ribeye steaks with loaded baked potato sides for a bucket of batter-fried chicken and think they've done something good for themselves. --107.216.xxx.xxx |

Our local seafood stand, where we buy all our seafood and shop there several days a week in season to ensure it's fresh, posted on their FB page this morning about customers raking them over the coals about pricing. These people have been in business for YEARS and always have the best pricing - but prices are just up, that's all! They said tuna went from $6 per pound to $8 in a week, and this week it's $14!

If the economy is going to return to normal then more people are going to be Vaccinated. While here there is no domestic Vaccine production here where the only source is from other countries that have prevented people from getting Vaccinated. It is unbelievable the amount of ignorance that people rely on information from social media sites where if any one talks to a few different doctors they know what the risks and how to treat complications. Now that the rules have loosened on UI a lot of people have no intention of going out to find a job when there are job positions open. A recession with inflation is historic. Now that Vaccines are being shipped here where this week one million Moderna and two million Phizer no age limit on getting a Vaccination. It is so easy go online then will get a appointment. While people want freedom while at the same time being foolish where the province of Alberta has the most Covid 19 cases in North America based on percentage of population. When immigration quotas are eased then this is going to have major effect on housing as demand goes up and supply goes down. --99.236.xxx.xxx |

I would post a longer post, but I have to go out and feed and water my chickens and pick up the girls eggs. I have a new crew of adolescent chicks as well in their own mini house and yard as the big girls peck. Two hardboiled eggs a day provide an adult human with their daily protein requirement and when my dogs get 2 eggs a day they never get hot spots and their coats are beautiful.

Locally, we have a chicken biz that is big in my book... but in reality is small operation compared to Tyson. He has stopped contracting chicken houses with the local Amish. He has plenty that will put up the chicken grow house, take care of the chickens, etc.... he as the demand on the grocery side to sell chicken pieces. BUT....
He can't find enough help to slaughter and process the chicken!! The company literally owns a small town where the processing plant is at. If a migrant worker came there, he would have a job and house in that town. He started to have problems once Trump started his "Build this wall" slogan started in. --76.77.xxx.xxx |
