76K California violent, career felons get earlier releases
AP News ^ | 4/20/21 | DON THOMPSON
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — With little notice, California on Saturday is increasing early release credits for 76,000 inmates, including violent and repeat felons, as it further trims the population of what once was the nation’s largest state correctional system.
More than 63,000 inmates convicted of violent crimes will be eligible for good behavior credits that shorten their sentences by one-third instead of the one-fifth that had been in place since 2017.
That includes nearly 20,000 inmates who are serving life sentences with the possibility of parole . . .
What could possibly go wrong? Don't show apartments alone or without a self defense weapon . . .

I had a Section 8 Case Worker contact me to fill my vacancies. They would provide me with a pre-approved, pre-screened applicant. Section 8 would pay first months rent and a $500 security deposit. They would not allow me to run the person credit, since they had already found the applicant suitable for their program.
I had the first person take a look at a unit. I asked them to give me some facts around the program. They were 30 days sober. Early release from prison, non violent white collar crimes. I asked how many times have they been in and out of various programs? Response, all of their adult life.
Like all I need is a hole in my head. If I accept a person who can not stay "clean", then I'll also be blessed with a person who can't be evicted for the next year and is protected by Section 8 who is in this for the money -- a 25% monthly commission on the rent. --47.155.xx.xxx |

Careful. Alcoholism is a disability covered by the ADA. I am not sure about other addictions. --216.23.xxx.xx |

I suppose if the crime rate goes up, then the people will look to the government to save them. It gives the government more control. --76.178.xxx.xxx |

Landlords hopefully will be too smart to rent to these folks so it means more homeless people on the street. We have been captured and we need to fix that somehow. Burma. --108.24.xx.xx |
