The current eviction moratorium in New York state is set to expire on May 1st but the state legislature is set to vote on extending that moratorium until August 31st. This vote is currently scheduled for Monday, May 3rd, and would further extend the eviction moratorium that has been in place in New York since last March.˙

Do they even remember why they're extending it anymore? Well, the reason that they originally gave New Yorkers anyway.

In the case of NY, the politicians are giving away free apartments (yours) as bribes to the voters for the next election . . . In Rome, this problem was solved in a very quick manner - Brutus and other angry Romans plus sharp knives equals dead politician called Julius . . . Downside, most of the voters weren't happy about the death of Julius Caesar . . .

I would not be surprised if the extension is extended "until officials feel it is 'safe' to open up again".

In other word, forever.

We've already been told that Covid continues to be the lethal killer above all others even AFTER you've been vaccinated, and people will need yearly "boosters". So basically that means: Covid yesterday, today, and forever.

What better way than to keep a political party in power than to create a crisis that never gets fixed, so we have to keep having the same group in power to fix-ify it, forever?

Our leader in chief told us a couple weeks ago that if we all just keep masking and vaccinating, we might be allowed to celebrate the 4th of July this year. That's right: the Govt is graciously telling us that if we all comply, will be given back the freedom to celebrate out freedom.

There's your sign. This isn't ending any time soon.

Sid, we had a great 4th last year and have a HUGE ONE planned for this year. Also, our local parade for Memorial Day got "cancelled". So we are scrambling to put one together last minute for the ones who aren't living in fear. If we get "permission", it'll be a parade. If we don't have "permission", it'll be a protest. :)

Since I started coming to this forum, there has been a saying that timid landlords raise skinny kids. Now that it's getting down to where landlords may need to get down and dirty to "feed their kids", there's a train of thought that says be a good boy or girl and just follow the rules.

If 2 landlords have similar situations and are affected by the moratoriums pretty much equally, the rule follower will get crushed. The one who bends the moratorium rules and/or cheats in this situation will survive.

New York has an eviction moratorium above and beyond the CDC. None at all last I knew. So now we are entering May 2021, there are landlords in that state who quite possibly are behind 12 months. And the state is putting you out another 4 months. Base on what?? What justifies this decision?? BASED ON WHAT FOLKS?????

If you're going to call your legislator, demand immediate compensation in full for "forced backdoor seizure".

Landlords are going to have to pay tenants to leave. The goody two-shoes are going to get crushed.

Luckily here, most people are living as normal but there are those few living in fear.

To folks see what JAC just stated here? She proved that the moratoriums are not going away anytime soon. Last year when it started, it was just until we got this under control. Right? Then it was extended just to err on the side of caution and then it was extend it again and again and again. And now all of a sudden, we can't end moratorium until everybody's vaccinated.

So, enjoy your no rents!!! Because of all the restrictions that I've seen put in place, the moratoriums have been for the longest periods of time and the most unjustified.

Trust me when I say this, if all you do is comply and be a good little girl or boy and don't do anything to save yourself or your business from going under, you're not going to be rewarded for your efforts in the end. It's up to you to save yourself.

The only thing potentially more dangerous than Covid are people who are still actually afraid of it. There's a historical quote (not sure who said it) that goes, "If you can convince people to believe absurdities, you can get them to commit atrocities."

But I'll entertain your way of thinking for a minute. So let's change it up, for the folks watching at home. Let's say that after 15 months of this, you have finally convinced me to be as scared as you are. Lets say I'm an All-Star rule follower.

Let's say, for the sake of the discussion that now I hand sanitizer everywhere I go. I double mask in my car and when I walk down the sidewalk by myself. I sent my kids back to public school so they could be masked all day and sit 6' apart on the playground like masked clowns in some sort of dark carnival.

Let's say that I've even made a few of my own TickTock's like the dancing nurses in support of Covid and I actually believe that a Dunkin doughnuts drive-through employee is a hero. Heck, I've even started elbow bumping and jumping out of the way of the unmasked & unclean heathen at the grocery stores.

I'll even stand on the little pieces of socially distanced painters tape on the floor at the stores!!

There's absolutely no way you will ever convince me or any other investor I would think, that eviction moratoriums are justified. Maybe the first time, not for me. But MAYBE the first time. But not one after another, after another.

So please, show me the science thats behind banning a person who owns a property and who rents it out for a monthly payment from evictions actually makes one bit of difference. Prove to me scientifically how that helps.

Now all of this has to be done under the assumption that you're not actually a troll.

Have you read the info on the post office spying on people just in the last week? The voter's roles are easily available. The govt keeps a list of who took the shot. Computers can EASILY compare the lists and identify those who have not complied/kneeled/submitted.

Soon, under the guise of "helping" the "vaccination squads" will come through your town/neighborhood to "Help you" (after all, it's for the kids and your own safety). Those who refuse to submit/kneel/comply will then be labeled as some convenient term, likely starting with mentally unbalanced and eventually as terrorists and a danger to society. As such, your rights will be stripped from you and you will be forcefully relocated to "places of safety" (gulags) to assure the safety of those who took the shot. You will be held there as long as the govt wishes because you will be classified as a "danger to society".
