One of the roofers a Lumber Yard referred me to wrote me this:"Thank you for sending the pictures. Looks like the existing shingles are Certainteed Horizons. If they are that shingle would recommend replacement. Certainteed discontinue them due to manufacturing defect. " I have some very good close up pics of men doing repair work on this roof in 2016 that shows the shingles. Has anyone here been involved with this class action lawsuit? THanks --108.45.xxx.xxx

Looks like it may be this one. You have a while to go before it gets settled. There was another one for this same manufacturer back in 2010. They awarded $74 per 100 square feet.

You will never be made whole but you might get some money back at some point.... maybe.

In your last post, you got some excellent advice on how to NOT get taken advantage of. We all said, "Wait until it starts leaking." You're ignoring that advice and coming back to ask for more? --104.230.xxx.xx

Unlike some of the people who commented in your other post about roofing, I've had good results using CertainTeed laminated shingles. I currently have them on 4 properties with the newest one having been installed in 2015. In the past I've used Bird (now out of business) as well as Tamko, Owens Corning, IKO & GAF. On the last several roofs, I've used GAF Timberline shingles.

If a local roofer was called to replace a shingle roof they would go out then buy the cheapest builders line of shingles where you are lucky if you seven years out of the roof. Buying shingles is like renting a roof where it is a never ending story of replacement well a solid metal panel roof is more expensive upfront when a metal roof will easily outlast the majority of shingle roofs which are a environmentally product that is recycled. In Europe they do not use fiber glass insulation or shingles. Metal or clay tile. Since a metal roof was installed over fifteen years ago the house next door has gone through 3 roofs. There is a reason why shingles are prorated then metal roofs are not prorated for warranties. Some people become fed up with the never ending story of replacement roofs where opt for a metal roof. My outlook any money spent you have to get it back where when paid $5,000 which included taxes the roof has been paid many times over. --99.236.xxx.xxx
