I am curious about how others do this.

I need to replace an old worn down gate at a rental where I pay someone else to come mow the lawn (lawn service included for T).

I will be building the gate (have done this once before).

Since the mowing co. will need access to the yard weekly would you put the latch on the gate so that it is on the side facing the street?

Normally I see these on the side facing the backyard but this is a different situation. Thanks.

You can get a dual sided latch which can be operated from either side. So like the one in the link below can be locked & unlocked from either side.
