State Specific Question About: WEST VIRGINIA (WV)
I purchased a building and had to eventually evict one of the tenants. I received the previous landlord's paperwork but it did not include the tenant's social security number. I filed and received judgment but can not garnish wages without the number. Is there a way to find someone's social security number? --76.26.xx.xxx |

Some private investigator / skip tracing type services can help with this. It will cost a few bucks. --70.178.x.xx |

If the tenant was ever divorced, then their SS# should be on their court case.. you can look it up... --47.155.xx.xxx |

You should be able to go back to the court that awarded your judgement & file a motion to compel your former tenant to provide updated info including their SS number.
This might be a good time to get updated info from any or your other inherited tenants. --71.184.xxx.xx |

This is why, increasingly now, we have to ask during that preliminary pre qualifying / pre application conversation........do all proposed adult occupants have a SSA OR TAX PAYER ID NUMBER ....... --172.250.xx.xxx |

Another reason why a ll needs the SS#-- in TX, if I file eviction paperwork, I have to prove that my tenant is not active military. It's not enough that they tell me "I work for WalMart." I have to prove that they're not military. The way that's done is to take their SS# and run it through a certain website. If they're military, it will come up; if they're not, it won't.
It's much easier to get that ahead of time, when they're agreeable and wanting to do what it takes to move in, than it is to get that sort of information when their cooperation is less forthcoming.
Good luck with your new building. --137.118.xx.xxx |

A skip tracer might be able to find her based on the old address and full name. As others have said, that costs $$$.
Going forward, whenever you take over a new property, always get estoppel letters that spell out all the terms of the rental agreement and ask for the tenant's last 4 digits of the social security number. That will give you enough to find them and garnishee/sue without putting them too much on guard like you're trying to steal their identify.
