Anyone know of a practical laminate for stairs?

It seems as though I will spend more money on the treads for the one stair way then I will for every other room in the house!

Allure could really make a killin' if they would take some of their panels and put a round-over on them for stairways. --108.39.xx.xx

Most of the box stores & all of the real flooring supply outlets carry metal nosing that will work for just about any type of covering that you might lay on stair treads. Depending upon weather you need to have an exact match or just want to cover the raw edges, you can do this for as little as $5.00 or less a tread. Of course you can also spend considerably more using something that is an exact match. Sometimes if we're installing real hardwood flooring, we'll use the same flooring on the stair treads with a piece of matching nosing to finish them off. --71.184.xxx.xx

I have sleep since then but I believe it was Brad 20K who posted a picture of doing just what you are asking about. Might have been Cimba.

Maybe look at the picture page or maybe the correct poster or someone else will come along and guide you in the right direction to see the picture.

They used allure on the tread and put an aluminum round nose on the front to protect the edge of the allure.

Again, I thought it looked good.

Sorry but can't give you more info that this. It's a mental thing. --98.20.xxx.x

Look at the picture pages for Brad20K’s photos of his stairs with allure. Looks very sharp! --70.20.xx.xx

I've had really good luck painting stairs with a quality primer and dark brown paint, then putting down carpet stair treads that I picked up for an affordable price on Amazon.

I had to replace one of the carpet pieces at a turnover, but the paint is doing well, even with a dog in the house. --67.43.xxx.xxx

We just started doing stairs with allure and rounded metal strips. The tenants loved them so we've done them a couple other places and that's our go-to now. The metal edges keep people from slipping and they kind of give it a industrial high-tech look. --174.206.xx.xxx

I agree that the metal nosing would be easiest.

I'm a woodworker, so I sometimes make my own nosings, transition strips, baseboard moldings, etc.

Also, I can't find Brad20,000's picture page...any idea why? I looked at all in the list and don't see a page for him. --99.92.xxx.xxx

I've been painting my stairs with a sanded paint. One brand I've used is Sure Step. I think Lowe's has one by Valspar. --70.178.x.xx
