*grins
What do you expect? Colorado has been overrun by Leftists in the large cities who deem these things essential human rights.
The handwriting is on the wall. Colorado was great while it lasted, and probably still is great for owner occupants who keep a low-tax profile and for those who work in the shadow economy (aka "under the table").
My advice: Get your money / investment out while you still can. --107.216.xxx.xxx |

Thanks, guys. I hear you. I closed on one of my buildings last Friday and will sell the other two by 4/12. It took a lot of time and work to get these deals done. On the 11-unit that I just sold, I received 5 e-mails from tenants saying that I was the best landlord they ever had. I don't say that to brag. I just delivered good service that the new corporate owners won't match. They can look forward to slower service and higher rents. I am getting out because I don't like what I see. Government wants the little guy out of the business.
C&J, good luck with your properties.
S i d, that's good advice. You nailed it. Maybe I can get some of that free stuff they're handling out! :)
Lisa, you have a great governor, in my opinion. That nonsense won't come to Florida for quite a while. --76.120.xx.xxx |

I wish I knew more about immigration or more time to study it as that would probably give me better insight into the situation.
The hard part for me to understand is why do they not just come here through legal channels but, then I think about how much all of us are not liking the laws and things that are going on right now.
Another thing that I think about is how that most of us have ancestors that came from another country and then they stole the land from the Native Americans. So, were our ancestors illegals? That would probably depend on whom you asked and in what century.
Just thinking. --73.120.xx.xxx |

Well, I only know about modern times. I have a huge problem with people thumbing their noses at our laws and entering and/or staying illegally. I have an equal amount of animosity toward those who encourage and enable it or are okay with it.
I can only imagine the thoughts of legal immigrants who worked hard, paid, and did it the right way. Then they see others who jumped the line and are rewarded for it. I know I wouldn't be happy.
And what is the benefit of having the millions of people in our country who ignored our laws in getting here? These folks are not the cream of the crop.
It should be a felony for someone to enter or stay here illegally, and there should be jail time for anyone who enables them via job, housing, etc.
Of course we're headed in the opposite direction. Every state is now a border state.

Welcome to Biden's NEW America, where the American taxpayer is expected to foot the bill for every citizen in the world.
Make no mistake, they have been emboldened at the state and city level to make these outrageous decisions with catastrophic consequences for the citizens of this country.
The Prez already said that taxes are going up. You know your taxes are going to go through the roof to pay for any person in the world who asks for a handout, except it isn't going to be a one-time deal. This will last forever.

Because they can't.
In order to come into this country legally, you have to be literate, pass health screening, have no criminal record, have no terrorist affiliations, not be drug addicted, and be able to prove that you will not be a financial burden to society (ie: you can and will support yourself)

Dave,
Good questions. I am planning on getting out, but not just yet. That will take some work. Almost everything out west is shifting to blue, it seems. Denver is getting too big and urban. They are now planning on building 2000 units just a few blocks away, tearing down restaurants and bars that have been here for decades. I'm from NJ, and this is getting just as bad.
I will actually roll over some of the proceeds into a Jones Lang LaSalle DST (new to me), via a 1031 exchange.
What are your plans? Have you looked in to a DST? --76.120.xx.xxx |

6X6 To educate your self on any issue please consider my method - do your homework - when you read or view media sources understand that most all media is biased - look at BOTH sides of the issue - if you listen to FOX most of the time - turn it over to CNN or NPR to get the other view. Be careful of the so call EXPERTS and their research. For immigration you may want to talk to someone such as a DREAMER or a recent immigrant legal or illegal. And then use some common sense. You may be a lot smarter than you think. --184.63.xxx.xxx |

I doubt the US government would want them if they applied legally. They would just be competing with others at the bottom of the rung for minimum wage jobs, and would become dependent on social welfare services. To be cold about it their only function here is as illegals in the gray market where wage and other protections don't exist. Once they are legal they are just taking up space and resources since they don't bring education or skills to the table.

6X6 I used to do immigration. The reason that they don't all come through legal channels is that despite all of the legal immigrants that we take in, demand still far outruns the amount of immigrant visas that we issue.
These current waves of invaders are gaming the asylum system. The vast majority of them are simply economic migrants. Being poor and wanting a better life is not a basis for asylum, and neither is living in fear of common criminals. Keep in mind that they are mostly from Central America, and could have asked for asylum from the nation of Mexico as soon as they crossed into it. Why wouldn't they do that, ask for asylum in a nation with a common language and more similar culture? They give a cock and bull story at the US border and are let in and given a court date, which is several years in the future. Meanwhile, they are legal to stay and work. In that time they will try to marry a US citizen and/or have US born anchor babies. Most do not even show up for their asylum hearing. Trump's policy of having them stay in Mexico until their hearing worked, it curbed the abuse and cut down on the flood. --73.141.xxx.xx |

Well it’s not that easy, I just sold a house to one of my excellent immigrant families. Married couple. He is document. She was not. Absolutely cleanest house and among the best tenants I’ve ever had. Her status in no way made her a bad tenant. But something is wrong when a man can be documented, his two children born in the USA are documented, but his wife is not? Why not? Oh, she has a credit score of 730 and her own cleaning business, the income on which she pays taxes. So I have to disagree. Immigration status has nothing to do with how good of a tenant or person you are. --216.186.xxx.xx |
