Well you can believe this or not,...not medical advice, just something of possible interest,... OK I have been using what I call my "virus Kit" at FIRST sign of coming down with a virus (I believe that's very important,taking it w/i an hour or two...} I have not had a virus get me for more than a few hours in more than 36 years,..Several family members say similar,
Lysine is one of the major component of my virus kit,..
So here is a post about lysine,and observations w/COVID..you can take it or leave it, but some may find it interesting. Hope you do.Not going to be pushed by any drug company,..its not patent able,..and cheap,..no big profit here,

Note Lysine is VERY popular with people who have herpes virus.Important to limit arginine at the time.
I had a friend that had terrible out breaks of colesoars,..(herpes simplex) She was a public speaker and had to cancel a lot of those,..She was also into natural health things so I thought she would know about this,..but she didn't,..she went on lysine and greatly limited arginine,...a week or so later all lesions were gone, never to return unless she fell off the wagon. --66.30.xx.xxx |

Yes, lysine will help prevent and limit shingles which is a form of chicken pox VIRUS. I am going to go take some now. Heard about the ivermectin too. Word on the J and J vaccine is that it's 66 % effective on mild and moderate covid and 100 percent effective at keeping people out of the hospital. One does. Said it has an adenovirus base. That's a common cold virus. Maybe they tacked a little covid protein onto an adenovirus to get it spread around in us and let the immune system know to attack it if it shows up again. I bought several tubes of ivermectin horse wormer from Tractor Supply. The wormer is packed in a plastic syringe that is graduated by body weight. Each month, I take a dose for a 150 pound horse. The stuff is a bit bitter so have something sweet to wash it down with.

Dee Ann, school age children are germ factories. All the ailments you mentioned are spread in the air or by touching something and then touching eyes or nose. I don't know how safe lysine will keep you from the germ factories. My first year teaching, I got everything they got. Hollis, thanks for the info about L-lysine. I had a large cold sore trying to break out this week, so yesterday, I searched this thread, stopped at the pharmacy, and took a dose. This morning, things feel better. Lip is still swollen, but less so, less sore. Important I not have any break-outs as I have started babysitting my grandchildren a couple days a week. The youngest is only one, and I am sure you know how dangerous a cold sore virus is in very young children. ( can blind or kill them, in rare instances.) --70.92.xxx.xxx |

Key to not picking up germs at family gatherings is hand washing, and dry hands on a CLEAN towel. If that same towel has been hanging in the bathroom ALL DAY, it is not clean. Also, no drying dishes with a towel that others have dried their hands on.
Find out where your host keeps clean hand towels, dish towels, and swap them out before you dry your hands, or dry dishes. I did this years ago at a family gathering ( also swapped towels for my kids, so they were using clean towels) where one of the in-laws who had travelled a long way to get there wasn’t feeling well. EVERY other family got very sick with flu after; my family- nothing. I put up with a little teasing for being a germophobe, but then those same people who teased missed a whole week of work, and one person was hospitalized; it was a nasty flu......
