Do you realize that now you have only 14 days to return a security dep and an accounting of any deductions you are taking.
I think the penalty is 3X the amount if you don't.
I wish they would make a separate "law" to list not only laws like this but the main sponsors of such laws when enacted.
The politician sponsors that pat themselves on their backs and get to brag to tenants how they are "fighting" for them w/o any notice by LL's,.. --66.30.xx.xxx |

This is about a year and a half old law and yes i knew it.What i dont understand is the number of landlords who say he owes me 2 months rent he knows he isnt getting any security returned,i tell them to just play the stupid little game and put it in writing and you wont get yourself sued.NY used to be pretty landlord friendly till about a year and a half ago --72.231.xxx.xxx |

In GA if you don't account for money taken out of dep or don't send the damage's or tenant claims too much was kept by LL -- they can sue for 3 X's the amount ILLEGALLY WITHHELD.
always send the letter outlining what your billing the dep with in the time frame specified by your state. --99.103.xxx.xxx |
