I am having popcorn removed and replaced with knockdown from the interior of a vacant house. The amount they want is about what I expected.

The also gave me a separate quote to do the garage ceiling, which has peeling popcorn and some ugly areas in places, though the ceiling is intact. Just unsightly.

They want $500 for the garage part. I am not worried about what prospects will think of the garage ceiling if I leave it as is, but would it be worth it to have this done for future resale improvement? I'm not clear on if it is worth it and whether buyers care that much about the condition of a garage. Thanks.

Did you check to see if your current textured ceiling has asbestos? Those fibers if not removed under a containment barriers and certified HEPA filtered vacuums, can be a real problem! --47.155.xx.xxx

I took samples from two areas of the house and sent them to a lab. Came up negative. --72.188.xxx.xxx

I've actually decided not to do the garage. This kind of goes under the category of "money better spent on other things" for me. --72.188.xxx.xxx

Agree Ray. I don't think anyone will care about that garage ceiling. People don't live in a garage. --72.188.xxx.xxx

Good decision. If I were you, I'd wait until you're ready to sell. Then, ask the realtor....how much extra can I add to the asking price if I fix this garage ceiling? If it's less than it costs to fix it, don't do it. --99.92.xxx.xxx
