I figured this would probably get lost in the other thread.
I am super impressed with your power system you described.
I've always been intrigued by solar, win, and geothermal energy.
I'm in the process of converting a box truck into a motorhome - with a battery-powered electrical system, integrated with solar.
It is not an area I am confident in for the installation.
My question for you is: Would you please consider talking to me directly to offer some guidance?
If "yes", please send an email to my business email you will find at thenicehomepeople.net
Then I will reply with direct contact info.
Thank you very much

You know what would he really cool? If you could find a way to harness the wind while you drive to help power your battery bank for when you're parked. --70.44.xxx.xx |

NE, That's a good thought/idea.
Maybe an arrangement in front sort of like the radiator fans. Some/many vehicles, especially the older ones, have some room there. Wire it up to charge the storage batteries. Another possible thought would be to maybe pick some of the charging off the alternator to feed those batteries (I'm not sure how or if it could be done without getting a higher output generator, but I believe these higher output generators are available).RV's already have ways to charge their onboard battery banks I think. A little research could yield some solutions. Possibly, charging could be accomplished without needing to run down the road as well.
It would be interesting. --24.180.xx.xx |

Just add an alternator on the engine. Use it to charge the extra batteries. You can also buy a solargizer to hook to the battery. I have a 24 volt one on my military truck to keep the batteries up. --73.120.xx.xxx |

Converting motor homes is above my pay grade, but my son does have a portable solar panel made for RV's that he uses to charge his Camper batteries. So those are available ready-made.
Everything in the camper runs on propane, or it is convertible propane/ electric. All that stuff is available commercially, so you don't have to reinvent the wheel.
The only warning I can think of is to isolate your car battery from the electrical system in the RV or you will discover you have a dead battery when it is time to pack up and drive on.
NE, excellent idea to use wind power to charge a battery. If you get that idea patented really quick you might make a fortune off of it. --76.178.xxx.xxx |

It's pretty SOP to hook up the "house" battery to be charged by the alternator/truck battery while driving. Yes, you do need to isolate them from each other.
Solar would charge them while stationary, as an alternative to a generator or running the motor.
My questions for Lana revolve specifically around the Solar and DC distribution systems. --68.229.xxx.xxx |

Yes. I will send an e-mail.
Good places to look are The Alternative Energy Store(Alt-E) online, and you can get the Real Goods Solar Living Source Book which is both instructive and a catalog, but very Californian. The RV industry already has extensive products for solar living on the road as well. Your most important purchase will be the battery bank. --216.23.xxx.xx |
