State Specific Question About: VIRGINIA (VA)

Does anyone know if the moratorium on evictions continues? Trump made it to December 31,2020, but I'm pretty sure our governor is keen to continue it here. --70.161.xxx.xxx

Like everywhere else this temporary free for all keeps getting extended every month where it is adding up to a entire year of rent arrears. Not every tenant has lost income where some are receiving UI or other government programs. Now the rules of UI have been loosened people are reluctant to go to look for a job or even try to work where sitting at home is easy as cheques keep coming in. Sooner or later this free for all madness ends. Governments are hoping a class action suit by making broken promises that this is temporary when it keeps getting extended every month. If has to go to the supreme court then that is what is going to take to strike down this unconstitutional free for all non sense. If every rental housing providers started a nation wide class action suit then the government can help those who have a problem with income not everyone. --99.236.xxx.xxx

In Biden's $1.9 Trillion bail out, there is language to extend thru September 2021. Is there really any doubt at this point that he is a dyed in the wool socialist?

Funny.... I don't see him or any of his Democrat buddies opening doors to their mansions and vacation homes to help. Such charity via Govt fiat is reserved for the rest of us deplorables.

HB 5064 Virginia Residential Landlord &Tenant Act --108.28.xx.xxx

I've often wondered. In Virginia law, there are references to Landlords who own more than four units...(used to be ten if I recall).

So you have laws that apply to you as a landlord, but if you own more than four, additional requirements kick in.

My questions is....what if you own more than four but only rent four or less? All you rich landlords who buy and sell homes. Each time you buy a rental you could exceed the 4 rental rule.

I'm guessing that this number has to do with how many rentals you are actively renting and not how many dwellings you may own.

My experience is in court the judge never brings up how many properties one has. The judge seems to assume that all the rules apply to you, Four properties or not, without asking. --70.161.xxx.xxx
