We need to replace a 28" x 18.5" drop-in bathroom sink/vanity top (we're keeping the 27" vanity cabinet). We were hoping to find a white porcelain replacement sink, but can find nothing in porcelain in that size.

As a matter of fact, after a lot of searching including Ferguson & other plumbing suppliers, I can only find one integrated 28" bathroom sink, in any material, anywhere. Overstock, Kitchen & Bath Authority, Home Depot, & Lowe's all have it in acrylic: Potenza 28 in. Drop-In Acrylic Bathroom Sink in White with Integrated Bowl, by Fresca. However, it's about 1.6 inches more from front to back than the old sink top that we just removed.

So... it looks like our only two choices are to either get that one IF the extra 1.6 inches can work, or to talk with the vendor who resurfaced a kitchen countertop with epoxy for us at a different property about resurfacing the sink top we just took out.

Getting the acrylic one would be convenient if it would even work, but we wonder how an acrylic sink would hold up? Thanks.... --71.246.xxx.xxx

When you buy a synthetic sink and top all-in-one unit, that you just put on top of your cabinet -- many of those types of vanity top-sinks have no overflow for the drain. This will cause slow draining and a possible flood (water going over the top of the sink and onto the floor).

Make sure what ever you buy, has an overflow hole. --47.155.xx.xxx

Yes, thanks. I had checked for that, and this one does have the overflow drain. --71.246.xxx.xxx

If you are looking for cheap, you can do a standard white porcelain drop in and a laminate top.

Or buy a granite top off the shelf and cut out the hole for the same drop in sink.

For about twice that you can do a granite top with undermount sink from your local countertop guys. For a rental, you can use a remnant and get a good price. --69.80.xx.xx

We installed an acrylic all in one sink/top with overflow in two units of a duplex in the 90's. It has a marbled pattern in it that looks nice. We've never had a complaint or problem with it. No upkeep whatsoever needed to it. The units always rent easily. It gave the bath an updated look. --75.11.xx.xx

Sometimes it is easier to replace the vanity where sink and vanity are combined. Recently replaced bathroom vanity with a double sink vanity where bought at Ikea. Prefer one piece sink where easy to clean. The only two negatives where it takes at least 4 hours to assemble along with metric dimensions which does not matter as the sink and vanity fit together. For a small space having a double sink vanity is nice option. The vanity is wide but narrow which makes the bathroom look larger. --99.236.xxx.xxx

I agree, sometimes it is just better to replace the vanity and top with a set from Lowes. However, if it is just the top, you can order one made to size, including where the sink it placed. Personally, for the bath, I prefer an integrated sink and top without any seams. Undermount or top mount just has too many places to catch gunk... --108.4.xxx.xxx

I would try a Habitat for Humanity store. It’s likely that vanity was sold in big numbers at one time in your area and several other people have replaced them already and donated the old one to them. I find a lot of random stuff like that there . --75.133.xxx.xx

Thanks. We did look at our Habitat ReStore on Saturday, and have found a lot there in the past, but they didn't have what we needed this time.

These ideas give us some great options for different rentals as issues come up. We have to get this project done pretty fast, so will try the acrylic. It was great to hear that Dee Ann has had a couple of acrylic sinks in rentals that have been trouble-free since the 90's! Thanks for that!

We prefer seamless, too, with no extra seams to collect dirt & grime.

Not to say that we would eliminate other options in future projects if the price was right, etc. For us, it usually just depends on time limits and on how quickly we can get what's needed. So we have preferences, but none of them are set in stone.

I appreciate all the input! --71.246.xxx.xxx
